Yesterday I took delivery of my absolute dream car, a 2003 Blue NART 575M F1 with 5200 miles and one previous owner. After many years of looking for the right car, this one is it - my favorite color, Daytona seats, mint interior, and standard wheels. Some interesting facts about the car:

    - European market car sold in Monaco in 2003
    - VIN: ZFFBT55B000132947
    - Chassis number 50196
    - Has parking sensors and Charcoal colored leather

Since I plan to keep the car for as long as I can if not forever, I wanted to start a thread to document all the maintenance and upgrades I intend to do with the car, including suspension upgrades, exhaust headers, and 6 speed swap. I am a big DIY fanatic so hopefully the information I post here will be helpful for the forum and hopefully inspire interesting discussion.

While the car is a marvel to drive, right off the bat I had a classic Ferrari moment and one of the xenon bulbs didn’t turn on - I’ve ordered Osram D2S replacements and will be documenting the replacement process soon. I’ve also noticed that the TPMS system has been disabled as it shows a symbol on the dash screen saying the system is off when I get in the car - not sure why that is.

Regardless of these small flaws, my wife absolutely adores the car (very important) and I’m more excited than ever to own my first Ferrari!

    Congratulations! Striking color.
Coincidentally, last month I purchased my absolute dream car, a one-owner, 7,800-mile 2003 575M. Grigio over Cuoio.
I too am working on reliability updates. I look forward to following your work, here!

Thank you! It’s an interesting color, it changes a lot depending on the light. Heavy sun makes it look aqua marine, but in dusk or shade it looks dark navy

    Congrats!

Make sure to replace/swap the F1 relay behind the driver seat. Some people had the disabled the TMPS disabled so they dont have to worry about the hassle of the monitors and can more easily swap between wheels. That and do a gear oil change.

If not already done in the last decade, would recommend the motor mounts be replaced.

Otherwise when you settle on your headers/exhaust setup, I *strongly* advise getting Trev's updated ECUs as they really wake up the car (600hp) and fix the quirky F1 system into something actually usable and natural. Since your planning a 6spd swap, that would be the perfect time as you can just use his manual programing.

Thank you all! Yesterday it got its new plates and a nice spirited drive. There really is something to be said about the “Italian tune up” - when I first took delivery I had a steering wheel shake at speed and it vibrated a lot under braking. Now both things are gone! Must have been flat spots and rotor crust. Of course, when testing the headlight/windshield washer system, one of the washer caps which sits on the bumper went flying off into the ether, so I’ll need to get another one.

    Replacing Xenon Low Beam Bulbs

    Tools and parts required:
    - 6mm Allen
    - 13mm deep socket
    - Small ratchet
    - 13 mm open end wrench
    - 2x OSRAM D2S bulbs https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0D1CPH8DL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Some notes: This job was pretty straightforward and can be done without removing the headlight, but there are a few snags. Drivers side has a lot less space, and getting the ballast cover to refit properly can be finnicky.

    Instructions:

Start by turning off the battery by twisting this knob CW:

Then turn towards the back of the headlight, and take note of the 4 pieces of hardware and light clip to be removed. Make sure to not lose the washers for the hex head bolts.

Gently press your thumb on this plastic tab and wiggle off the cover - note that there is also a plastic tab on the bottom side you can’t see, which will be important for reinstallation.

Next, the silver plug needs to rotated CCW slightly and it will loosen such that you can pull it off - do that and put it off to the side gently. Then release the two tangs which hold the bulb into place and you can now remove the old bulb. Note that the shielded return wire on the bulb faces down, as it will need to be reinstalled that way.

Reinstalling is just the opposite of what you’ve just done. Note that drivers side will require 13mm open wrench to remove one of the plastic nuts. Also note that the green wire must tuck into the ballast cavity, take care not to pinch it. After all that work, turn the battery back on, switch key to position II for ten seconds, and then turn on the car. Turn on the lights and you should get to see…drumroll please…

Tada! Expect it didn’t work, so now deeper diagnosis is required. I suspect it’s either a fuse or the ballast itself has gone bad. To be continued…

How hard is it to remove the front bumper
I just found out my windshield washer reservoir has a crack in it and leaking. I thought it would me an easy fix but the WSM says the front bumper needs to be removed and the the part lists for $630. it’s going yo be a good winter time project
