No, they aren't going to license it, its going to be reverse engineered. Tesla's whole BMS and communication system was reverse engineered in short order, I'm sure the same will happen with Ferrari (if it hasn't been already)

If I offended anybody or you think I'm full of boloney, its all ok. It was just an opinion. I'm happy if we all can have our 296s all last and keep them for a very long time. If they go up in value good , if not, oh well.... I won't hold my breath. It is the best car in its class from my perspective. For perspective buyers, If you waiting to get one at some low cost because you see alot on the market your wasting your time.... the 20k you "may" save, or whatever discount you're waiting for isn't worth the time in waiting IF you want the Car enough to be serious about this Car.

This is true to a point. And- I wouldn’t want an SF90 over a 296 at the same price point. I just purchased my 2nd one today because the 296 is that good of a car. I like to drive, not just look at them. The 296 is practically as fast on the road and more nimble/ fun while sounding better. The only reason to get an SF90 is to fill the collectible spot/ paper weight. And I’m sure it’s still a good car- just not as great a car for actually driving on the road. IMO. :)

Good points--you're thinking like an enthusiast :) Many buyers will want an SF90 as it's higher on the F-pecking order!

For anyone interested, bid got to $260 and it didn’t sell. I liked the spec a lot, but I believe what hurt it getting to $280-$290 (which I think is market-correct, price-wise) was the fact it’s not a CPO car and the factory warranty is either running out or has run out. That, plus shipping and buyer’s premium kept me away. The owner was probably hoping for $300,+ but that’s not the market.

wrong forum. no idea why anyone would try to sell a modern Ferrari on that site instead of BaT or Southeby's.

When you don’t like the answer BAT gives you for expected price range, you settle for 3rd best which is not a viable option for cars like this.

Life is too short. Enjoy the car while you can. The 296 is pure enjoyment.

You are correct. I know folks that walked away from cars that arrived months ago, correctly calculating that the loss of a $20k-$40k deposit was less than the depreciation they would have experienced had they taken delivery, and their cars are yet to be listed for sale.

Great post. You articulated what much of the market seems to be feeling. And in the end, it doesn't matter if people's fears play out or not–current values are based on people's feelings today.

Price drives sentiment. Dinos didn’t sell at $15K and now are wanted at $400K+. Price is what you pay, value is what you get. The 296 will eventually be recognized for the incredible car it is. It is also styled like a traditional Ferrari- and very beautiful.

People are confused- Hybrid’s were in hyper cars over 10 years ago for performance reasons, not because of government mandates. These hybrid cars are respected and worth millions. The 296 is caught up in a fog of FUD that will eventually lift. In the meantime I will enjoy the best regular production sports car ever made.

Not so sure about this. When I was in the market for a GTB, I did not get offered cars that weren’t listed. Sure- new cars would come to market- and the dealers listed them in short order. Last week I purchased a GTS. There were no hold backs- unlisted cars to speak of. Just normal behavior- new cars coming to market and being listed shortly after.

I believe you are spot on! Those of us that own one and have had other high performance cars truly know the value of the 296. I did not appreciate this until I had the opportunity to drive one.
