Well… the battery/charging worries have plagued for a long time just on ICE vehicles! I think they preferred using their cousin, Luigi’s batteries in the cars to save a little and keep him in business! :)

I agree. Which is why there is no need for an all electric Ferrari "supercar". An SUV, sure. But an SUV is not about performance. Its about use.

    Ferrari doesn’t build from need.
    And Purosangue isn’t an SUV

    1) Every car maker builds from need or they go out of business.
    2) If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks likes a duck, its an SUV no matter what seome marketing person calls it. (and there is nothing wrong in that).

younger buyers want more and more power in every version as do quite a few older ones - most don't want their ferrari to be uncompetitive in a straight line vs others

ferrari's ev is going to suck imo just on the basis that they can't make it as powerful as they need to for it to be competitive with other EV's (or it'll undermime) the rest of the range

Uh, trust me. They’re designing a very innovative and powerful electric engine system.

But it’s not, in the traditional sense. Very unique car.

Firstly, something can’t be very unique, it’s either unique or it isn’t! Secondly, if you look at electric power trains and the motors produced by companies from Rimac down to the smallest EV by a mass car maker, they’ve pretty much covered today’s technologies based on battery system current power deliveries.

Interesting article but doesn’t mean a lot. I’m getting a Gemera with delivery in a year or so and when I talk to the engineers at the factory about their dark matter motor (which is around 800hp if I remember correctly) the issue isn’t just a powerful/efficient motor it’s having a battery system that can output large amounts of power when needed. The Ferrari patent in the article, is indicative and protecting their rights - no idea if it will be commercially viable or go into production. Some of the smaller European companies like Rimac and Koenigsegg are hard to beat as are some of the key Chinese companies. I think Rimac currently provide their battery tech to Ferrari amongst others. EV is coming to this tier of the market eventually and Ferrari is correct to keep finding its way by developing its own technology and finding cutting edge suppliers.

Congrats on Genera. Wish that single door/four seat layout was more common in the industry. Ferrari is like taking incremental patent steps as they go forward, as it would be odd to just be seeking patent for a car already nearing Lauch.

Many people go on about the years of heritage without recognizing that that company doesn’t really exist anymore. Racing, apart from Le Mans where companies like Toyota are pretty close behind, is a small bright spot. The new management of Ferrari aims to be a luxury brand yet doesn’t understand luxury like Hermes does for example. The image of Leclerc sitting on a hillock next to the track pretty much sums up where Ferrari are with racing!

I don't understand the reason for the camouflage. that can't possibly be the platform for the upcoming EV.
