Sitting at a red light a young man rear ended my wife who took the car that day to have it tinted. Didn't even touch the brakes. It's at the body shop now but the insured limits are only 50k property. I owned it for exactly 13 days before this happened. Pretty dang bummed.

I'm so sorry. That's 100-150K in repairs and maybe even a right off if there is frame damage. Don't forget to claim Diminished Value. Insurance will say no, just tell them that they will be hearing from your attorney

Yes...so sorry! It is so hard to own nice things when we are literally surrounded by idiots who WILL ruin them.

Having been the recipient of less damage from an idiot, “dang bummed” is pretty mild, I would be stringing together far more spirited language! Really sorry, work hard to achieve dream goals and then this happens. Hope it’s repairable and as has been said above, fight for diminished value.

+1 Been there, feels awful. Push for a total loss if you can. It stinks, but it's your best outcome in the long run.

Expect addition damage to be found after the insurance approval. Remember body shops are not in the business of totaling cars; it’s not always in their best interest. On one high end car that I had that could be fixed, a very honest body shop said he recommended the insurance total the car. He knew I was picky, it would get brought back and I would never be happy with the result plus there’s the diminished value to fight for. Another average car was estimated just a couple thousand below total; ended up cost way more and it was never even close to right; had to get rid of it.
My 2 cents; good luck and post what happens.

Luckily in my industry I work closely with body shops so they will fight for me not against me.

Also, my 8-5 is insuring a large pipeline company so I'm at least well versed in insurance.

Given the other guys limits and the fact that it will go through my insurance and subrogate, I also hope it's totaled as it's hard to get diminished value/loss of use against your own policy.

my wife got great ended in 2019 in her Benz C63. Car was fixed, it looked great but was never right after that. She sued for diminished value and won but it took almost 2yrs of back and forth.

Sickening on you awesome 488.... glad your wife is ok.

Sorry to hear this, glad your wife is okay, cars can be replaced, annoying that you've only owned for less then 2 weeks.
    Hope you get things sorted

Push hard, because you are screwed without significant compensation (unless it gets totaled, the best outcome for you).

Glad the wife seems to be okay, but injuries may not always present right away so hopefully nothing shows up later. Also hoping you get the car written off...looks pretty bad and right into the gearbox and engine. Even if something looks straight to the eye it may not be and if it's a moving part over time it will fail.

Looking closer with the body shop it damaged the rear subframe, gear box, exhaust was pushed in which bent most of the piping resulting in a concern for the turbos/manifolds and has multiple engine codes and electrical fault. The body work alone is approaching 100k in damages. I will be shocked if it's not totaled but should know more towards the end of this week.

If the transmission is damaged that is a $40k bill. Damaged turbos is another $30k bill. I can't imagine the insurance coverage doesn't write this off as total loss at this point.

I take it that the other party's insured limits are $50K? That could be a headache in getting reimbursed, writing the car off, or a diminished value claim. Depending on your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, you may or may not be made whole on a total writeoff. It could also be hard to collect diminished value from your own insurance if it's not a writeoff and they have to cover the excess of repairs.
