600k for any CS may be batty, but not when scuds are asking 4-5s, Speciales at 8 and over. Like some of the others already posted, i wish prices were normal so more can enjoy and use it as intended vs collecting as art. And Im saying that as a current owner who can benefit if I was to sell. But short of finding a CGT for under a million or prices get closer to bridge the gap (which i don't think will ever happen), I can't see myself ever selling.

As far as 996 gt3 goes, a well setup one is eerily similar to a stock CS experience (minus the sound and 6 spd). Saying that as a current 996 gt3 owner with a bunch of cup car and OEM+ mods. These cars are very different from a regular Carrera of its time.

makes complete sense imo, loudest stock road legal ferrari, light, fun and much different than the latest questionably styled heavy cars that Ferrari have brought out

Think you should refer to it as a poor mans F40, as the F50 is quite different.

The only real mini F50 is a Diablo Roadster:
    Mid engine V-12 - check
    Factory gated manual - check
    Targa top - check
Comparable HP - check (Ferrari 513, Diablo 530)
    Great swoopy styling - check
    Rear wing - check

At 15X less expensive, the Diablo Roadster is one of the last great bargains out there

While a $600k CS seems a little nuts, look how much our invested assets have made this year....that $200k difference between an OK (if a little high) price and $600k seems quite small since even our middle class nest egg has made that much. For a real FChat baller (ie everybody on here other than me), that $200k must feel like couch cushion money.

I think you bring up excellent points not many talk about here regarding prices and why that last line is unlikely to happen. You're describing FOMO under the (imo false) belief this is the peak affordable Ferrari in ones life. When someone believes they won't be able to attain something better for whatever reason, they then go after that currently attainable item and subsequently drive its price up like a self-fulfilling prophecy. If instead they held off on that purchase believing they could get something better like an F50 by investing or saving or whatever, then the cars would stay around $200k.

Collectors usually don't define the market. Influence it at different degrees; yes.
Set resale prices across the board (that remain stable) -- usually not.
Collector cars seldom or never see the road or track. A CS that has, simply is not in the same "ballpark".

A 600k Ferrari SUV is “batty”……. :), on the contrary a coveted, rare, and universally renowned special edition older Ferrari is correct.

I’m surprised it took so long honestly.

and to think ONLY one CS is available today publicly & that one has been tarnished with the non factory manual gearbox & blue interior.

I reached out to this one https://challenge-stradale.com/137176.html & I cannot get an answer back to it's availability. The $450K asking was up before the "batty" CS even sold so maybe they are holding on to it for now?????

    CS = rare bird :)

there are many folks building out collections so they can qualify for the LEs. The new (unpublished) rules are requiring collections of limited cars to even qualify for the new ones. Yes you can get a 296 Speciale COUPE, but the Spider requires more boxes checked. Its a poorly kept secret that to qualify for a f80 you have to have ALL the prior super cars...that is $20-30m. I know 2 guys who were told that to get the f80 they needed to immediately buy the super cars from the 288 forward...and, they are.

1928 Joe Kennedy was getting his shoes shined. The shoe shine boy said something about how great the market was doing and he was investing.
Joe Kennedy realized the market was inflated and liquidated his stocks and dodged the 1929 crash. Crazy spikes in valuations is not a good sign, in my opinion.
