    The long way home
In 2015, RM sold the "Pinnacle Portfolio", which included LM 97904 (LM # 19) and 288 GTO 55181 (a nice, low km car).

The LM sold for $3,300,000 (including fees) & the GTO sold for $2,420,000.

While there was no standard F40 in the RM sale, Gooding, Bonhams and Mecum all offered cars that sold between $1.15 - $1.375 (all-in).

It seems to be broadly consistent from 2015 & today that an LM is worth ~2.5 - 3X a nice standard F40 and 40 - 50% more than a nice 288 GTO.

While the relative prices of the supercars do seem to ebb & flow, if anything, it would seem in 2016, JD was pricing their GTO on the optimistic end of the price ratio (and selling the LM at a relative discount).

Based on the ratio of 2.2 2.5 for a F40 vs a similar 288 GTO.. that’s puts a 288 at 20% less than a LM.. my personal view based on recent 288 transactions and taking into account last nights result on the F50.. a Grade A 288 GTO is 10 million US

From memory 55181 had no service books or warranty book so not really a comparable to a Grade A car

a few comments for this car:
swiss cars are almost never modified - the rules dont allow it, and there are periodic checks that the car must submit to and pass to get on the road, such that any mods even a tubi, must be removed and the oem reinstalled. so, swiss cars tend to be very original.
then, for a buyer to move this car to another euro country will require them to add 20% vat on top of whatever import duties they might have - which is not inconsiderable at this price level. and the chf/$ is around an all time high lately at 0.80/$, so whatever price is achieved you need to add 20% to get the USD value.
furthermore, it is nearly impossible to get an f40 from outside Switzerland into Switzerland - the authorities are not making it easy at all. net/net, my guess this car will stay with a Swiss buyer, and may not achieve any relevant price given these caveats.

I could be wrong but I think on a classic car it's a one off 5%, no VAT.
