Hello Gents. I've been doing lots of work to my 89 Testarossa lately but wanted to share this with you real quick. Most owners know that the locking tangs on the taillight bulb holders get brittle with age and break off. Some of you may know that a simple 3D-printed part can offer an effective repair. My good friend recently downloaded the required STL file...

    https://www.stlfinder.com/model/snap-in-ring-for-ferrari-testarossa-rear-bulb-holder-sNsc72Tz/172205

... and printed me a dozen of these rings. I installed one today and am happy to say that my problem has been solved. Here are some pics. I glued the ring in with 6-min epoxy. Cheers!

Dinner is served! Metaphorically speaking, of course. @Rifledriver your first batch is on the way and the 2nd will follow soon after. For the others, just PM me with your preferred mailing address and desired quantity. Please take only what you need. I'm not selling these...they are free. I'm not the one who designed them and each one only costs pennies to make. Shipping is cheap.

Ok, no problem. It is much appreciated. Shipping for the two packages is about $6 total. And maybe $2 for materials. My return address will be on the packages and my email is inside. Snail mail, Pay-Pal, Zelle, Venmo are all equally good. I would appreciate your feedback on the parts. We can probably make improvements to the design, if warranted. Thanks, Brian.

WOW- what an incredibly kind thing for you to do. Some times we need to see things like this to make us not think that all of humanity has gone over the edge.
I have three Testrossa's but certainly won't request these unless I need one. Save them for people that need them- THANK YOU for doing this.

I have a pretty complete machine shop, and a 3D printer certainly seems like a fun thing to add to my mix. Technology is amazing. A fellow machine shop owner just bought a printer that does TITANIUM- wow!

@ago car nut, @Rifledriver, @Warlock, @flash32... Have any of you tried these pieces yet? Did they work for you? My repair has held up great so far. Please let me know if you have any feedback or if you have suggestions to improve the design. Thank you.

Nick, your goodwill here is fantastic! Because you asked for feedback/suggestions, here is mine. Your design looks great. Over 30 years ago, I discovered a loose bulb holder on my '86. I replaced it and have never observed a loose holder since. The pics below show the culprit. In your installation pics above you appear to have ground out the damaged area so that the "locking tangs" fit into that void. I was envisioning using a Dremel tool to carve out a tight notch for the locking tangs, but there is nothing there to grind. I would probably fill in and shape the damaged area with JB Weld and then notch same with a Dremel tool. I will certainly order some repair rings from you should the need arise. Thank you, EDoug

Hi EDoug! Thank you for the kind words and thanks for the suggestion. I used a Dremel with one of those little "grinding ball" bits, and tried to square-off the damaged area as well as I could. I also used a sharp Exacto knife to help make the recess uniform and square. Here's a pic to illustrate what I have tried to achieve.

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

I think that is adequate, as long as the recess is deep enough to let the 3-D printed part to sit flush. Once the part is epoxied into place is seems pretty strong. But the 3-D part is plastic, too, and it can be broken if mishandled. I try to be really careful around these light bulb holders...I don't want to keep doing the same repair over and over! Yessir, just let me know if you need any of the parts and I'll send them right to you. Cheers!
