It’s finally arrived and having full ppf, etc done.

It’s also way, way too quiet.

Has anyone had an actual owner experience with the novitec tectronic that prevent the ecu from going crazy if we do a gpf delete?

It doesn’t reflash the ecu, but rather sent the ecu what it needs to see to not freak out and trigger a cel, so I’m not concerned with warranty issues at all.

My apologies for the bad joke. :)

I think you should be concerned, my understanding is that the Novitec unit just gets the systems to ignore error codes, but those systems will still run the GPF cleaning cycle every now and then and that means superheating the exhaust, however, there will be no GPF nor feedback from the GPF, thus the system supposedly runs hotter and hotter. Ive heard of problems with people removing the GPF and engines overheating and problems ensue. I really did look into this and I could have always been told something inaccurate, but if what I have learned is correct, than I would not touch the exhaust on the GPF cars. It's simply not worth it. (Maybe you could open the valves, or maybe you could put in a less restrictive cat and get away with that, which might help with volume level).

Thank you for a well thought out reply. I had not considered the GPF cleaning cycle. I will research this further and reach out to Novitec to see if they have insight as to this question. I will keep the thread up to date as I learn more. If anyone else further has insight, please chime in. For those who have not heard your car in person, it is much quieter than an 812 (with gpf). We compared back to back cold start, idle and rev in my dealers showroom. Truly the only disappointing aspect of an exceptional car.

I think Capristo offers less restrictive cats while maintaining the GPF? Could be wrong...

Youre welcome, and I think Novitec also offers cats that have GPF built in. Im sure they will come up with reasons why you can remove the GPF, and I would have loved to hear all about how they can be removed, but the powers that be have made sure that, while not impossible, its very very difficult. The 812 is bombast, it's like going to see your favorite rock group where the lead guitarist shreds and is incredible. The 12 Cilindri is more like enjoying an orchestral performance where all the players are in balance. I enjoy both, but in the end, give me Eddie Van Halen.

There is forum-generated content suggesting that the Novitec Tectronic module disables the GPF and also cleaning/regen cycle. I haven’t found any anecdotal statements to this effect, nor anything from Novitec explicitly stating this.

I’m after sound, not HP; does anyone have user experience not deleting the GPF and doing an exhaust on an 812 (the only parallel that comes to mind) that sounds the way you wanted?

Is this Rosso Imola? It looks like a deeper red? or am I mistaken?

I think you will need to find a company that does real engine tuning and knows how to code the Ferrari computers. And all these parts now talk with each other, so they will know if you made changes.

Well first of all: WOW. Looks amazing man. I did not consider Mugello and thought it would not suit the car for whatever reason and you proved me WAY wrong. It's stunning.
I opted for Rosso Imola and up until today I was sure about my choice ... Not so much at this moment :)

Did you consider Imola at all? What was your rational on going for Mugello instead? Sorry I am just picking your brain to settle my own insecurities :)

I would NOT want to be the 1st or among the 1st to mess with a half million dollar car and have things go south because the engine is not working in its designed parameters. Someone will probably figure something out but I'd wait a few years until more 12C's are out in public and tuning on them starts.

I have a F8, also way to quiet but so far I am still not convinced there is a complete safe exhaust and tune solution for reliability, performance and sound for the F8 which has been out now for 5 years.

Reminds me of the Youtuber watch guy Nico with his 812 he did exhaust on and tune...removed GPS etc and the car was a mess and Ferrari voided warranty. Very expensive fix.

Thank you! loved Imola, Magma, and Maranello and would have preferred a 2-3 layer, but I have a spider coming and all of those colors were an additional 30k+ that I didn’t see getting back at sale.
