I live in Lake Tahoe (avg. snow fall 400+ inches). My FF came with Novatec springs (which I love in non-snow conditions). I have the original springs. My shop is recommending keeping the Novatec springs but putting on winter tires with a higher profile. Thoughts on this? Could I also install winter rims that raise the height of the car during snowy months? The car will not be used when there is a blizzard, but one of the key reasons I bought it was to have fun in during the 6 months of the year when there is snow on the ground. Any thoughts and/or experiences?

    Thanks as always.

If you are not going to drive in a bizzard, I wouldn't worry about a slight increase in height. Not to mention at these sizes there is not really an option for sizes. I have 245/35/20 and 295/35/20 for my Michelin PS4 and the Michelin Alpins are 235/35/20 and 285/35/20.

A second set of wheels is a good idea. I bought a second OEM set on eBay cheap. It makes the change over much easier. Plus if they spread salt like they do around here, it will keep your summer wheels looking better.

Thank you kindly. I wonder what would happen to the handling if I went for a higher profile (50 vs 35?). I have 5 1/2 inches of clearance to my front bumper. It would be nice to have a little more.

i have beefier tires which has been discussed extensively here. i did it to help lessen rim/tire damage which is notorious. i'm using all season contis and the car grips like crazy around the streets.
