The F 512 M has aged quite well. Didn't care for it in late '94. Love it today.
Most of the design that is polarizing (taillights, wheels, front bumper design) I actually like and think are unfairly maligned. Time has not made me like it any less. That said, I hated the headlights 30 years ago and hate them now.
here again a 512 M sold yesterday at BaT for 550k US$ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f512-m-14/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2025-06-18
The new "TESTAROSSA" from ferrari is so ugly that it is fair to say that the REAL testarossas are going to appreciate even more now. What a disgrace what they came up with !
Image Unavailable, Please Login Is this the final rendering? Please say it is not going to be sold looking that stupid! Major miss of the mark.
Bull https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/auto/500-tr https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/auto/250-testa-rossa Expecting a modern rendition up of the 80's TR is missing the point.
Not a fan of the new car. Looks unfinished with stuck on bits but hey I’m not the market they are trying to sell to so what do know
I suspect sharing a name with that abomination will lower the value of anything bearing it. The 512TR and 512M people are laughing now.
Looks better than the SF90. Minus the raised extension of the center console which looks cool but destroys the space.

We can talk about design in the context of F80. I don't like it, but I can understand where the designer was going. The new TR is like a bunch of different ideas stiched together, with zero flow. The new design is so bad, it is just painful to watch. IMO this is the most ugly Ferrari, since the F512M. And that says sth.
Rest assured plenty of people disagree, both about the 512M and the 849TR. Someone's ugly is someone's else's awesome. And they didn't copy it as you imply.
The 849 Testarossa is more like the 512 S/M racecars. It is a stretch to use the Testarossa name. Ferrari fought for their trademark and it seems they jumped to use it for a new model. I hope there is something more to the use of the Testarossa name. The early Testa Rossas aren't what this name is about. I am annoyed this car is messing with my search results.
yesterday a 512 M sold at BaT for 541K US $ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f512-m-19/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2025-09-10
I am not sure why ferrari doesnt listen to its customers: retro style, manual gear box available, less hybrid... That would sell more imho... They did bring the start button back thought !
The 849 is better than a retro-modern Testarossa, a la GT40 and Countach. "Testarossa" is not tied to one particular model.
I have forgotten what the modern GT40 looks like, but I take your point - the 849 is as ugly as the new Countach. Both should come with an alcantara bag with eye holes for the driver.
