Draining the Gas Tank on a 2009 SCUD

    Well, due to a long series of life events, I have not been able to drive my SCUD in over a year, and I am kinda worried about the gas in the tank. I am thinking of draining the tank, but not sure how difficult this would be to do on my own at home.

    Looking for feedback on what you guys think.. doable or not? I have limited resources and only limited on mechanical ability at this stage in my life (LOL).

    1 year is really not a long time ..and that is from experience

    Do you have 5 7 gallon room ?

    If so .. drop a can of Sea foam in the old gas and add new 5 7 gallons of fresh gas

    Run it thru without pushing car and then the next gas tank use a bg44 for the next tank

    You should be good

    Let Sea foam sito in Tank at least 1 or 2 days

    You will be fine to start and drive the car gently. Some of the octane will have come out of the gas, so drive it gently if there’s no room to add any fresh gas.

    Seafoam isnt a bad idea, and it’s easy to get.

    Thanks! Really appreciate the input. I'm not going to lie, I'm afraid to drive it with that gas but I could drive it very gently to the dealership.

    If gas is not "top notch" the anti knocking sensor will prevent any damage. Don't push it hard, put more fresh gasoline, and everything will be fine.

    Just to give you a comparison.

    I just used my boat in Havasu last week. That will be the last time the engine gets ran until June of next year. The boat site in my garage on a battery tender, and it will start right up in June. Ive been doing this for the past 10 years that I’ve owned this boat.

    A boat engine has a load on it whenever it’s moving. A car engine doesnt ever have much of a load except when you are accelerating quickly.

    You really don’t have to worry about starting and driving it.

    Can also add some octane booster, while driving turn left and right vigorously to mix well.
