IMO one of the exciting aspects for oval pistons is a more compact engine allowing a shorter wheel base. Plus a new design from scratch would allow higher revs. The future of sports cars design should be about the experience rather than net horsepower figures IMO

Are you asking about design or which car I don't like how it drives?

They have filed dozens of patents... No one is working on this engine, not a single part exists elsewhere... Honda tried with very large investments before giving up, because it is impossible to find reliability with oval pistons... It will probably remain on the drawing board.
Unless you want a reconstruction every 20,000 km ! The sealing issues at high speeds rpm are currently unsolvable.

This photo is exactly what I was saying elsewhere. There is no argument about either specimen in the photo.
Let's be serious---and not overcomplicate the ideas of if it looks good on paper or in person.

I appreciate it, but what Ferrari has become goes far beyond my person, who matters very little. At that time, a new launch excited me and made me dream for months in advance... today, I turn my head and look elsewhere, except for Icona and 12C. When these worthy representatives of the myth are at the end of their journey, it will be wiser to turn the page.

The only part of the 849 design that really bothers me at the moment is strangely the wheel arches, I think their round shape is a bit out of character with the rest of the generally more angular shape of the car. Squaring them off, however, might cause the car to have a bit more in common with the SP3. From the rear ¾ view, with the carbon element behind the wheel arch as it goes into the tail, kind of recalls the BMW M1, at least for me. (I know, not a Ferrari, but no bad thing!)

Day355, you should stay as we need a variety of opinions here.

As you saw there were people here who were not impressed by the car.

Oval piston rings might be challenging

This shortens the length of the engine?

Not much of an advantage with a V 6 or 8 cylinders

Funny that you picked the words "Ugly like a fat woman".

One of the primary goals for the 849 styling was to erase fat from the SF90 body, while still incorporating the required larger intercoolers.

Does anyone know if the titanium exhaust option affects the entire exhaust from the collectors to the GPF canister to the muffler cans and then the valve system and the tips?

Or are only the exhaust tips made of titanium.

I believe that inconel is used in the standard exhaust system. Inconel is a fantastic metal alloy for high performance high heat ICE exhaust systems

Ever studied art - design. Ever see a room of people paint the same object, they all use different colors backgrounds etc. Every person sees the same thing differently - that's universal.
No one has to like / buy a Ferrari - yet Ferrari keeps selling out.
Engineering sets precedent over design - Ferrari is the league.

I'm not really a fan of the Roma's design, it feels too soft. Same with the new 12C, just not striking enough for me. That said, I do like the way the car drives. The SF90 in my spec with the AF package Spider looks great, subdued, elegant, not in-your-face.

The Purosangue I really like, though I wish it sat lower, more like a fast wagon. The F296 didn't win me over at first, but now that I own it, I think it looks spectacular, possibly my favorite. The new F80 is an uncompromised, crazy machine, and I absolutely love its design. The 812 Comp, especially in coupe form (the Aperta roof feels a bit awkward to me), depending on the spec, it fights for #1 spot for me with the F296

At the end of the day, I'm a car nut. I love cars from almost every manufacturer hell, even Toyota Corollas ( I owned a lot of them). So maybe I'm not the best person to ask for an opinion if you are looking for a Ferrari centric opinion, since I tend to appreciate all sorts of make models and weird designs.

I tend to dislike older cars I don't understand what people see in the cars from the 50's 60's some 70's and even 80's I think some of them look absolutely terrible would never own any of them, I like futuristic modern design with some retro vibes (perhaps a bit contradictory here)

My favorite are extreme looking cars, my SCV12 Essenza being one of my absolute favorite car designs ever, I like race cars, etc etc. I hope this confused you enough LOL

The cars-to-women analogy was mentioned here before, and if applied to your case—I hope you don't mind—it could be something like this. You have very good taste and an undisguised fetish for very young Italian women, although it's clear that among them there are some who are your favorites. You openly dislike those who are over forty, regardless of how beautiful they still remain, but you reveal that you're not a fundamentalist, as you make at least one exception for a Japanese lady who's 59 years old. :)
