I had Tubi headers and a Capristo Sound 3 exhaust installed on my 1997 F355 Spider. The exhaust system prior to that was all Fabspeed, except maybe the valve that opens to make the exhaust louder at higher rpms. That valve may be stock. So currently between the headers and the valve there are Fabspeed high flow cats and a Fabspeed crossover pipe.

It doesn't quite seem to have that high-pitched F1 scream that people say the Capristo is capable of.

When I bought the car, it came with the stock exhaust system, so I could put the stock cats (unknown if they are in good shape, any way to test that?) and crossover pipe on. Is that what I should do, or is there another solution I should seek out instead?

In retrospect, I really liked the sound on my former F355, which was all stock except for an older Tubi exhaust. Also, I think the valve may have been open all the time, because it wasn't quiet at idle and I never noticed a point at which it suddenly got a LOT louder, as I do with my current F355.

I’d guess it’s to do with the Fabspeed cats and/or crossover pipe. My old 355 had Tubi headers with a Capristo 3 and sounded as great as you’d expect at WOT.

Do you recall what parts you had in between the headers and exhaust?

That's what I ordered from Capristo via Yellow Compass, so afaik it is. Says so on it.

I had 200 cell hi-flow cats and eventually a Capristo bypass valve, the rest was stock.

first thing to check is the exhaust bypass valve at the top of the Y pipe. If that's not opening, you'll never get the "scream".

That is the exact setup I have and it sounds great when the valves are open. Really tame when closed. Assume you have a remote that opens and closes the valves ? I have to determine which setting I want on the remote.
