I just want to check with other 355 Spyder owners as to the correct operation of both the dome light (3 position rocker switch) and the shifter console round Dome light button switch

This Is my understanding of the system after reading the owners manual

FLAT DOME LIGHT ROCKER PANEL LENS = Light always Off

ROCKER PANEL LENS FACING FRONT OF VEHICLE = Light illuminates automatically with the Opening and closing of doors.. This is the default position if you want courtesy lights

ROCKER PANEL LENS FACING REAR OF VEHICLE = Allows you to turn on the dome light with the doors closed.

SHIFTER ROUND BUTTON SWITCH = Manual control of the Dome light on/off

    Firstly is this correct..?

Secondly does the shifter console round button work at all times when the light is off ( regardless of postion of roof panel rocker switch) and whether the doors are open or closed an regardless whether the vehicle has key in ACC position or car is off and key out ( but battery still connected of course)

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance..

OK.. So had another look at the system

FLAT = Light alwaysoff ( regardless of doors/ key position /console shifter switch)

FRONT OF VEHICLE = Light illuminates automatically with the Opening and closing of doors.. Default position if you want courtesy lights.

REAR OF VEHICLE = Allows you to turn on the dome light with the doors closed.

The shifter console switch ONLY works when Rocker panel faces windscren and then only when doors are closed and regardless of whether parkers lights are on or off or key position in ignition barrell

    Can anyone please confirm..?

    Confirmed on my 98 Spider.

The light time delay/dimming on the door closing is provided by the Immobiliser ECU on the 5.2 car. On the 2.7 there is a dedicated dimming module.
