#2. The following hybrids have appreciated in value: La Ferrari, SF90XXX, Porsches 918 and P1. Appreciation: It seems to be a function of demand exceeding supply. The 296 has similar performance, is probably more fun to drive and more practical.
General public not people on the forum but id say the majority of the forum are not keen reading a lot of the comments
Ferrari’s regular production cars have almost always depreciated. The opposite was the exception to the rule. The 296 is a masterful achievement. Hyper fast, usable, fun and sounds good. Production and FUD have contributed to faster depreciation. These are cars, not investments. Would I prefer they hold their value- sure. Is that why I buy them- no. Ferrari has made many design dogs in their day. Some have later been appreciated. They have always pushed the design edge. I hated the Enzo in its day from a design standpoint. Doesn’t matter. When breaking new ground- people hate change. And the beat goes on. And the 296 is beautiful in the traditional way- flowing curves.
If you on uncomfortable facing a $100K loss or more- don’t buy a $600K car. I expect these will be available for a discount pre-owned based on prior performance of the Scuderia, Speciale & Pista. The prior cars are now appreciating because they are not hybrid (even though the hybrid is better). People are afraid of change. FUD works. And eventually I predict these will be appreciated when people realize there is no hybrid longevity problem.
First, just because he says it, doesn't mean it's true. Second, he's a reasonably famous YouTube personality at this point. So even if he could get one (I'm skeptical) it would likely reflect his influencer status, not general availability. This may be true of production models, provided you are willing to wait a year or two for delivery. It is most certainly not true of any VS model to date, including the Speciale.
Its $135,000 and no I'm not comfortable with that loss in 12 month its ridiculous I work too hard for my money to blow that amount
You are right, but I was not considering the holy trinity in my post. That was a good correction by you, and I sometimes forget those ones are the original exotic hybrids. The sf90xx I will wait on because there have only been a couple for sale so far, and even the first few 296s for sale were above MSRP.
That’s about where I am in 12 months. Just don’t sell. I consider Every car a total loss when I buy it. I work plenty hard for my money. Which is exactly why I don’t consider cars as investments.
I like the color but man, I'm sick of seeing the launch spec already. I can't wait for the reviews to come out so we hopefully see some different specs.
I’m the same. We’re going to Croatia next week. Cars go on the transporter tomorrow with a weeks’ worth of luggage for two. I loaded and packed the 812 Comp. But found, to my surprise, I couldn’t do it and leave the XX in the garage. So we’ve squeezed into the XX. I have to sit a notch forward of where I normally would and my wife 2 notches. And I just know that packing light, in two suit carriers behind the seats is going to give me terrible earache! But I just love the way the SF90/XX does things. The open hood, mid-engined feel, incredible and instant performance and handling. I felt like I had to find a way. We use the e-mode around town and Qualifying everywhere else. What a brilliant platform the SF90 is for this type of thing. I’d miss it if I didn’t take it, wonderful as the Comp is.
enjoy your trip. You comment made to think about the 296VS and if the difference will be substantial or significantly noticible b/w sports and Race. Doesn't matter how one drives the 296, its always in Quali and Race. wonder how others drive or feel the difference b/w sport and race.
All BS. How would you be so influenced by these donkeys that you don't even know? Their opinions are meaningless and they are just opinions, they know nothing more than anyone else.
we were discussing far upstream whether best weight seats would be exclusive to the XX and Speciale, but appears that with the Fiorano package one can select best weight seats in the 849. so looks like going forward this will be an option.
I agree, I tend to navigate towards the hybrids all the time, congrats on your epic upcoming adventure, I would love to join such a drive in my XX (not here yet)
Having the option to leave the house without waking my family is very appealing. But the idea of firing the ICE up while in motion and putting the V6 straight to work makes me uneasy. In my cars, I wait until there's a little warmth in the oil and the revs drop to normal idle before I pull away. Does this concern resonate for anyone? Does the car do anything to manage this for you?
Interesting thought. The way the engine comes in feels sophisticated and seamless. If it’s in auto it chooses a gear that starts with the revs low. I think the same is true if it’s in manual. I don’t ever recall the engine coming in at high rpm’s. It always sounds like a normal cold start without the whirring of a starter motor beforehand.
Rosso Supercar is the same as all 3/4 layer paints - at least no premium to that. I think that is 45K? More for the VS versus the GTB (38K) on all premium paints.
I understand your concern. I think one should only buy the VS if you really want to have one and you will actually use it. I think they will depreciate quite a lot so it depends how important spec is for you and being the first owner. Another important factor is that they are quite expensive compared to the past models, so a lot of buyers on the second hand market won't be able to pay that much; it is just another level, a level were people can afford (not want) to lose in my opinion.
Talked to my dealer yesterday and I don’t have an allocation for the car yet. Maybe if they release more. Said they got 15. 11 coupes and 4 spiders. A lot less than he expected.
