Was Crystal Cove the original Cars & Coffee before Irvine?

I was looking through some old things and found this notice from way back when, and we were asked to leave Crystal Cove (I really, really, miss those days) and then we went to the Irvine Spectrum, where the first Cars & Coffee I have ever seen was born, was that #1? Was Crystal Cove the original, but then the Cars & Coffee brand came in Irvine? Kind of cool if so, that we were in a way a really big part of automotive car culture across the world, Cars & Coffee is worldwide now. Here is the paper they handed out at Crystal Cove on the last day

c and c’s have been around for decades. everywhere a car culture existed.
where was the first, probably on woodward ave in detroit or a donut shop in los angeles.

 

For cars and coffee as we know it today, I vote yes for crystal cove. Only in SoCal could something like it happen.

The original car gathering that started the name Cars & Coffee began at Crystal Cove. By other names, there are much older Saturday car gatherings, e.g. Donut Derelicts.

Yep. Crystal Cove is the OG. Good times. Incredible hardware and people. Sad day when the chapter closed.

best c and c ive ever been to. not just due to the cars but the people too.

 

I think Donut Derelicts predates most everything for SoCal. There was one other at Beach and Warner back in the day too, but not with exotics.
Supercar Sunday (VCR location) and Crystal Cove were pretty close together in starting the "second wave" in 03/04.

just very few are invited and all others are told is cancelled

 

we could all casually by chance meet at CC this weekend for a coffee if anybody would like, purely by coincidence of course. Although I do think its suppose to rain this weekend. sadly

 

Cars and Coffee definitely originated at the Crystal Cove plaza parking lot. I used to go when I could. The exiting cars was the main attraction.

 

I'll tell you, Crystal Cove is already totally cramped for parking space, even without a C & C ... We go there all the time for lunch or dinner, and I don't take my Ferrari there as I can guarantee either a ding or a FIPTBD ("idiot parks with a huge truck next to me blocking my car door").

We now go occasionally to C & C in San Clemente and there's space for everybody there, no anxiety

Only time I ever attended was almost 20 years ago ...
(These aren't my kind of things to do. I prefer good, few hour, early morning drives up in the local mountains)
