Even Tsunoda had pace today. Red Bull car was fast this weekend.
Maybe you should watch the Swiss broadcast. Wait until Piastri becomes a commentator. It will be super nice and dry.
Although, like he said after the race, he's not sour about leaving F. Wants to help make Williams great again.
Give Mekkies long enough and it will go downhill, he has walked into a championship winning team and has the best driver on the grid to pull the car up by its socks. Agree with the other examples, most seem to do rather well but am yet to see any of those develop a title winning team on their own merit, most were inexperienced at the time. Stella, Binotto etc. I had a nasty feeling when fred was appointed, its still there. Same with Bigois and Serra. Hope i am wrong. PS great to see Sainz on the podium & the Williams team. Persistence reaps rewards
Racing Bulls shares information with RedBull to some extent. Sauber/Stake/Audi has a facility in the U.K. Fyi
Sounds like you need to turn the telly to another channel, perhaps the Brazilian TV for controlled dialogue
From what we've been told thus far regarding Mekies, the problem was that Horner wanted to chase the simulator's setups, and wasn't having a counter argument. Mekies assessed and allowed drivers' feedback instead and this has set them on a better path so far. Red Bull was going downhill sharply compared to even early in this season, and setup seemed to be a large part of the problem, just not getting it right. He seems to have done ok with Toro Rosso too.
@375+ Even CadillacF1 has a facility in the U.K. The odds favor the teams in the U.K. as opposed to Ferrari in Italy.
Well Ferrari didn't disappoint me...they did as bad as I expected. Piastri made a rookie mistake, and then recovered like a rookie...it was like he had been posessed by the brain of Lance Stroll. Lando survived. Racing Bull showed what it is like when a team fights back...as did Red Bull (are you watching and listening Ferrari). Sainz took advantage of a better than deserved qualifying and brought it home for Williams. He has such a mature attitude. Russell doesn't seem to have many admirers here, but personality aside, he and Mercedes moved up from their grid spot, and were a dominent second. I love the track...it is a real challenge. I enjoyed the race.
IDK about Binotto, but I get what you're saying. One of the components that is a problem at Ferrari is their infrastructure. In the past, they could test, test, and test at their tracks, until they got it right. But then wind tunnels got more advanced, and simulators and rig posts became more mature, Ferrari got left behind. At first, they laughed at those things and said that nothing could beat real world testing. At first, they were right, but around the Vettel era, the tide turned, and those things became essential to a winning edge. Newey was an old dog, but he learned the new tricks, and was more open to the new tech. Now who looks stupid? Ferrari simply don't have facilities as good as the competition. Even if you hire the best, they can only do so much with infrastructure that is several years behind your rivals. That's why changing the players doesn't solve the problem. If Ferrari won't open a facility in the UK, they should partner development with Dallara, who I think could help streamline development and provide more accurate data. No, it wouldn't all be done in Maranello, but it would all still be done in Italy. So far, the partnership in WEC has been gangbusters. Three 24's in a row, and a coming WEC championship. Food for thought.
It's not going to happen with Dallara or a move to the U.K. Your dealing with: 1) Italian Pride 2) Italian Culture 3) Italian Tradition 4) and just plain Italian Stubbornness
Ferrari opened a UK design office for John Barnard https://scuderiafans.com/when-ferrari-opened-a-factory-in-england-the-john-barnard-experiment/
True. It's still incredible how Schumacher did it so it's certainly possible. It requires a driver so damn good the team worships him and believes in him so deeply, they follow him every step of the way, can't fake the love he gives to the team either. It requires a team principal that massages the egos of the powers that be just enough to make them think it's all their doing, whilst simultaneously pulling the actual string of the upper level guys A aerodynamic designer who understands what the fastest driver wants and needs and can translate this from paper to carbon A technical director that again, understands what both driver and aero man want and put it together in a neat package Leclerc certainly has the love for the team down, zero doubt in that...but still mistakes that are costly. And IMO he does not have the champion mentality down pat, either. Does whatever dingus on the other side of the radio tells him...even if he disagrees, still blindly follows into yet another mistake. I've said it so many times but if Leclerc disagrees with the team regarding to pit (or not), DO WHAT YOU WANT or feel anyway. The endless moaning and talking about it will never, ever change anything. Don't even need to talk about Lewis, he's too focused on art and whatever. Team Principal...I still have some doubts about Vasseur. I think he could potentially do it but that's only with the correct others around him. Aero man. Tondi has worked for Ferrari for how long? Aero hasn't been Ferrari's strong suit in god knows how long. Remove. Montecchi is technical Director. He was also partially responsible for the F14T, which says it all. Go play with crayons somewhere in a corner. We don't need best of the best in all areas but certainly need a special weapon. Get. Max. Blank check, tell him to bring whoever he wants and listen to their every word. Max will get the absolute best out the car, the team will absolutely be all over him. Get Rob Marshall in. re-hire Gino Rosatto and employ him as chief of propaganda and get the italian media in line. Dominate like never before.
modern data tech might make it work this time. or maybe it’s a leadership problem and not a technical one
Anyone open to the conspiracy theory that Oscar binned it by order of the team to make things equal for Lando’s DNF a couple races ago? They’ve given Lando preferential treatment before. And, Oscar, who doesn’t make mistakes very often makes the same mistake twice? Sorry…..I’m not counting out a request from the team to throw the race. The constructors is in the bag, the damage costs are negligible. Just food for thought. Ferrari…….*sigh*. No other words.
