I tested out my spark plug leads and extenders today and when assembling everything back, I went to plug in the coil plug and noticed that the coils were wobbly as hell.

Suspecting a bolt or nut was loose I pulled the driver wheel off, wheel liner and air tube.

Got to the bracket and not a single nut was loose.

So I removed one of the bolts/nuts and realized that the little metal sleeve that goes into the rubber grommet was basically too long for the bolt to "snug."

now this is likely because the grommet is old and not as thick as it used to be, but I was wondering if anyone else ran into similar issues, and if so what was the "fix" you had?

I've been looking for that grommet part, but I'll be damned if I can find it. I'm wondering if I should just shave down the spacer a little so the thing will be snug.

    Thoughts?

It could well be that the rubber grommet has shrunk over time. Obviously a new grommet or shortening the sleeve are 2 solutions. Adding washers that slide over the sleeve is another. Fortunately all the solutions are cheap and easy. Here is a 1981 diagram, I would think that 1982 would be the same.
