I listened to this podcast and I agree with Neil. I’m 30 and I find the 849T extremely attractive, it mixes all the design ethos of Ferrari that I like, overall squared off like a 288GTO/Testarossa but with the flair of a SP3. I know I’m in the minority but design is always subjective and my opinion doesn’t carry much weight since I can’t afford one any way. Though I’ve been thinking they could’ve shoved a V12 in the back and had some hybrid assist without the front motors, so a series production LaFerrari, would be much more interesting. they already have a hybrid 4WD track monster (F80) and a hybrid supercar (296GTB). I think the 849T should’ve been like the 12C, a car built on emotion rather than laptimes or 0-60 numbers. another aspect is the name, which is confusing; 849 T = 8 cylinders and 499c per cylinder 296 = 2.9 liters V6 Wouldn’t be more appropriate and logical to have called it the 398 as in 3.9 V8 or to make it more distinct 839, instead of 849?
There is nothing more feminine and curvy than a 288, it is designed like a woman. In terms of vocabulary related to design, it is the perfect Coca-Cola bottle. comparing this thing to the 288 is like comparing rags and towels
If it was a 398, people would have complained that it sounds like the old chevy little big block 396.
