This is a frustrating one...I am based in Tokyo and my garage has a limit of 1130mm from the center of the front wheel to the front of the bumper. The Ferrari F8 is 1156mm.

They will not let me park the vehicle in the garage unless it complies. Getting a different garage is not an option, unfortunately. There are no available options within the legal limit of how far my car can be parked from my home address (welcome to Japanese bureaucracy).

So I come to humbly ask...is there any way you can think of to shorten the front bumper by 26mm (1.02 inches for our american friends) without destroying the look of the car?

I am open to custom bodywork, replacement bumpers...whatever it takes to get this thing into my garage.

Trade it for a 296 is my only suggestion. Good luck, that is an unfortunate situation you're in.

This is a tough one but I'm wondering if you put risers on the floor for the front wheels would this then lift the front end off the ground enough so that the overall length in a straight line would reduce it by the required amount? Seems like you could calculate this on paper before buying anything. Would love to know if this works.

Please clarify is this a personal garage at a house or a community garage for apartments or condos? Or some other kind of garage?

I doubt the bureaucracy cares what angle it’s parked on, the way the rule is written they will measure it the same way. He may not even have a dedicated space in the garage if it’s community

I've heard it all now. I thought I was going to some lengths when I had to have the door on my garage widened and the roof reinforced to get my 488 in, but chopping lumps off a car to make it fit is crazy.

Try to park on ramps or at an angle or move. No way I'd hack up an F8.

The way it's written, this isn't a case of 'fitting'... it's a case of them just not allowing a car to be longer than that from center of front wheel to end of bumper. I'm assuming this must be just a distance thing where it'll stick out too far into where the cars are driving by so they regulate it. Either way, there is no way to 'shorten the nose without intense bodywork and certainly f'ing up the looks

Do aftermarket body kits exist from Novitec, Capristo etc that shorten the length of the front bumper?

I would revise the garage wall (in the US where we use sheetrock, would be easy). How would the government feel about a bumper delete (get some custom piece made)? Both my cars have bumper delete options (not a 488).

He would have cut out the drywall to make room for said car. Easy fix.

WHAT, exactly, does the center of the front wheel to the front of the bumper measurement have to do with fitting a car into something?
OAL, I could see, but wheel centerline to tip of bumper?

Perhaps that's the distance from the curbstone to the wall? It wouldn't surprise me if the Japanese were so precise about curbstone placement such that they could define a rule intended to protect their wall based on that distance.
