Hi, first time poster here! Over the past couple weeks I've been working on a neighbour's 575 (F1 Gearbox) which has been sat for nearly 15yrs due to a breakdown - I'm pretty sure is because the starter motor was seized out as I disassembled the old starter and it was completely burnt out! After fitting a new starter and battery the engine cranks but it doesn't start as there's no spark. When I turn the ignition on the gear indicator flashes in Neutral and the red F1 light stays on, when I try to select neutral I here a loud hum which I'm guessing is the F1 pump, but the gear indicator doesn't stop flashing. Will this fault prevent spark? Any common faults to look for? I noticed chewing to an earth for the abs pump so I'm wondering if the wires for the f1 system may be damaged aswell. Thank you!
Hi, Ben. Welcome to the forum. Typically, the F1 system inhibits cranking on Ferraris if the car doesn't go into neutral, but that seems to be working ok. Is your immobiliser system LED going out? Image Unavailable, Please Login The immobiliser will stop the ignition/fuel systems operating. On some Ferraris, the battery in the alarm siren can leak and create a short circuit, blowing the immobiliser fuse. Perhaps you can check the fuse? I think it's fuse 26 in the passenger footwell (brown 7.5 amps). Image Unavailable, Please Login I'm assuming you have the key fobs (with good batteries in them).
Yup, 575M cranks fine but will not start if the immobilizer is armed or inop. Ask any 575 owner who got gasoline and forgot to use the fob to disarm the alarm/immobilizer. Cranks fine, but no start.
