I like the e mode for moving around the driveway, this way I never have to put any wear on the ICE. I also like it for not having all the debris that comes out of the exhaust on a cold start get on my garage floor, what I do is go down the street a bit, then I fire up the ICE while stationary, and I wait for it to warm up to the point that the CEL and Catalyst lights extinguish. Just like Id do in my driveway. Then I drive it with lower revs/ short shifting/ until everything is at operating temps.

I think the values are important, but, at the end of the day, my rule is to not buy a car I know I won’t like driving. I really do enjoy all these cars.

Good. I think I will do exactly that. And agree - it will be very nice to have this option.

Sounds like a great rule and the right philosophy to me!

Don’t race cars have their engines rebuilt frequently? :)

I let mine drop from fast idle before putting into gear and all the lights off, of course. I do not leave it idling for several minutes, unless it is really cold outside. But I drive modestly until gauges indicate that it is properly warmed up. I hope I’m doing it right.

Just let it run until it idles smoothly helping it along the way with small revs at first and then stronger revs as appropriate. This is not a hard concept but it does somewhat burst the hybrid bubble.

I enjoy the warmup of that massive V12 engine in my car as much as driving it. It will idle fast at startup and then start to simmer down. Give it some light revs to help it along. It will drop to just below 1k rpm and idle smooth. Help it along with stronger revs but nothing stupid. Notice the gauges and you'll see them starting to rise. In another minute everything will be good to back out and run for a few miles on SPORT. Then when fully up to temp in oil and water its RACE or higher and have fun. Whole adventure only takes a few minutes.

I've done this with every engine in every car and motorcycle whether road or closed course engines. The race motors were always tip top on tear down. Do what makes you feel comfortable but there is no science to back putting driving forces on an engines instantly on startup as beneficial and honestly this is the first time I've ever heard of it. And no, race teams do not start a cold engine, drop it in gear and go do laps as what happens when you switch from full electric to ICE when on the go with a cold engine. Take car of your engine and it take care of you.

He is actually correct that driving away slowly is better for the engine and this is even more important if you are in cold weather.

I get in the car and start it… situate myself buckle seat belt and pull out of garage and make sure door shuts and cold start has been over for a minute and drive out of my neighborhood at 15-20mph and by the time in the summer I get to the main road the engine is ready.

I like that the first one has the body colored roof. Hadn't seen that yet and I prefer it to the black.
