Yellow with green stripe wire and single straight connector running in the same harness with the two wires to the two ignition triggers in the bellhousing spacer. Just resealed my engine and it's back in my 86 328 and nearly ready to run again, but can't id this wire. Thought it was for the alternator light (it is perfect length to reach there), but after pulling the alternator cover, there's one already there plugged in.

Can't find it on the wiring diagram. Can't find a place to plug it in. Only thing that (literally just) occurred to me is it's for my removed A/C compressor's clutch?

I'm a moron. It appears to be the A/C compressor. In the wiring diagram as "brown/green". Please consider this your free "laugh at SammyB" pass. Cash it in whenever you'd like!
