    I had squeaking brakes on my F430. Here’s what I did:

    As always I take my time and try to leave it nicer than it started. In this case, I replaced all wheel well hardware with nicer 10mm hex bolts instead of the soft Philip head ones.

    Lift the car. Jack stands. Remove wheels. Punch out the bottom pin first, then the top. For the fronts, then you remove the bolt on the back of the middle pin with a 13mm socket.

    I used the grease shown in the photo on anything that had friction/movement. Cleaned everything first. Cleaned the pistons and put light grease on them too.

    I used 25 ft/lbs with the permatrex orange pictured on the screw for the center pins up front. Wheels torqued to 72 ft/lbs. Pins punched back in from the back till the backs were flush. The front caliper springs are directional with top/bottom so keep track, but they’re labeled. Be careful for the inner pads to not let it hang on the sensor wire.

    Great post as usual! I saw the black sharpie marks and I wanted to throw out something I've been using from McMaster Carr to keep track of any fastener movement: https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/131/2694/1476T211

    I forget what forum I saw it on years ago, but have been using it on BBK brackets, suspension bolts, etc. for the last 10 years or so - the nice thing about it is you can chip the old compound off and put a new dab on during reassembly and not get mixed up with the old position.

    It’s a black paint marker, not sharpie.

    In my opinion, the tamper goo paint stuff has its place but not for seeing if something is coming loose. I’ve seen it many times hold its form and slide over the surface the bolt is on, while maintaining rigidity over the bolt versus cracking in two. I believe this stuff is best to simply make sure a socket wasn’t put over something. Hence the term “tamper paint.”

    I see the tamper stuff used a lot on airplanes and that’s to ensure the next guy doesn’t mess with your toque spec. I’m sure if the surfaces were cleaned, that it may help indicate something is loosening so the paint breaks. The tamper stuff is also more robust and doesn’t fade over time. I’d love to hear your experience with it and others.

    Just to be clear, you had sqeaking ccm brakes, only disassembled and cleaned and now you’re good?

    mine squeak when it’s hot outside and it drives me crazy. Been contemplating trying different pads but if it’s as simple as a clean, I’ll do this instead.

    mine were not squeaking then began squeaking so I figured this was the fix. I will drive it this weekend, after I put in carbon fiber engine bay panels and more titanium hardware across the engine bay! I’ll let you know if it fixes it.
