We are spending a few days driving our 296 in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina.

A VW flipped in front of us during one of our runs on Tail of the Dragon.

He went off on the uphill side, a big advantage given that the Dragon does not have guardrails.

He crawled out without a scratch and was coherent.

    Modern automobiles are life savers.

The 296 is magic - 1.4 lateral g in the 296 is easier than 1.0 g in our 911 992.1, which is a great car.

lovely but dangerous road- mainly because you don't know who is driving around you.

    Thank you.

Even though the 296 corrects my mistakes on corner entry very well, I am mindful there are limits to how many times the car can save me.

    Exactly.

The Harley Davidsons seem to be the biggest problem now.

They often ride the centerline, sometimes side-by-side, and when they lean in the turns, their head is in the opposite lane.

Also, they often travel in large groups and rarely pull over for faster drivers (pretty much everyone); the cars often pull over to let you by..
