:D This one is too good. I only make them public after they threaten scorched earth. ;)

So this is Timothy Gould of The Ryan Companies.

There was initial confusion as he was just asking how to retrieve password and I nicely told him how to do so.

Turns out he was trying to get the mobile app to work, which hasn't been available for a year, isn't available, and of course you can't login.

So yet another grouchy old user that isn't patient with the technology and reacts to some light jokes by going ballistic because of course FerrariChat completely sucks and he's better than anyone else and will tell the world. :D Bring it on Timothy. ;)

tbh I feel like you came across as slightly needesly antagonistic there with "FerrariChat, have you heard of it?"

his reaction was a tad excessive though

put it another way, a 6 year user with 60 posts and contacted me through FerrariChat needs the link? :D this goes back to my teach users to fish, don't catch the fish for them. we get these users, usually old and they just don't want to take 10 seconds and look and they are completely stubborn to learning anything. So you give these guys fish and they are back the next day and the next. There are also different difficulties required, password recovery and the link to FerrariChat is level 1 of 10. :)

Rob famously offers customer service out of a Clint Eastwood movie. No BS here. I suspect the guy was old and didn’t realise a mobile browser meant like a website. And I guess if I had to deal with anonymous customers for years I’d be as grouchy as Rob was.

Still, I would not have banned Fabio from the Maranello forum but that’s another thing.

Out of interest how are the YOY figures for Fchat? I have been here for more than 10 happy years and don’t find it dead but also wonder how much is also going on diversely and less usefully on video comments and social media

The first headwind for the forum has been social networks like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter etc. At some point we decided if you can't beat them, join them and our social pages kill it now. We get over 3 million views a month on Facebook and Instagram, we do make money there, but ultimately we're trying to drive traffic to the forums and classifieds.

    https://www.facebook.com/FerrariChatEnthusiasts/
    https://www.instagram.com/ferrarichatcom/
    https://www.instagram.com/rossoautomobili/
    https://www.instagram.com/rosso812/
    https://www.instagram.com/rossoicona/
    https://www.instagram.com/rosso.f40/
    https://www.instagram.com/rossoclassics/

The second headwind even back to 2012 is SEO and now even AI. Both crawl all our public data, but then try to display all the information within their platform to keep traffic from coming here.

Our forum is not at peak levels that hit around 2013-2014, but 1) we are still very strong and survived while 98% of auto forums have virtually no traffic now. 2) the forum is the "healthiest" it has ever been IMHO based on qualitative measurements like lack of drama, lack of trolls, lack of spam, and quality of postings. 3) although forum specific traffic is down some, overall including social we have more views per month than anytime in our 25 year history.

The business end is good as it has ever been, the focus to grow is not on subscribers and sponsors, but to add more opportunities and value to users buying and selling Ferraris. https://ads.ferrarichat.com/buy

You really have the market cornered tbh, out of all of all of the car forums I’ve been on for over a decade this is by far relatively the most busy to what it was in the glory days of message boards

Vertical Scope forums died many years ago, but now Vertical Scope really struggling too, I wonder if we can pick F LIfe and the Lambo forums up for a couple dollars soon. :D I think Vertical Scope has over 500 auto forums and I think they have killed most of them. Maybe Maserati Life still OK?
