Seems like a few of us have gone this route - 10 years ago I sold my 512 TR and I’ve always regretted it. Today this 92 EU car was delivered from Ferrari of LI - I’m getting to know her….. the older Ferrari nuances id forgotten. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like we are living parallel lives - Congrats. I am sure sitting in your "new" 512TR brought back some great feelings / emotions. I am going through a major, a repaint, and electrical system upgrade and new stereo if you ever want to connect directly.
We should 100% connect on that - would love to hear and compare notes. It’s so interesting getting used to the car again. The car seems to be pretty sorted, the driving position I had honestly forgot about / the steering wheel could use more adjustment, however that is the charm. The lines are ridiculously good IMHO, quite possibly my favorite car - in regards to aesthetics. Been on 4 rides so far with about 100 miles so the shakedown is going well. More power then I recall, the brakes with no ABS work great - easy to lock up. Fingers crossed she’s a good car!
Congrats! She's a beauty! Similar story here ....... I have had 5 of them over the last 32 years, and every time I decide to try something newer, I end up going back to one. Its been about 10 years as well since my last one and I've finally come to the conclusion that all these newer Ferraris are just not for me, and its ok to admire them from afar. (Yes, I'm a slow learner ..Lol). So I'm on the lookout for a nice Red / Tan preferably euro, driver quality that can be my happily ever after fun car. Enjoy the car, and post some updates on your reacquaintance journey. Cheers
Interesting, the Euro cars came with clear turn signal lenses instead of amber? Did the US 512TR come with the rear bumper add-on like the TR? I see some comments on various forums that in the US, the Euro F cars are cheaper than a comparable US model, why is that? Unlike classic 80s/90s MB/BMW/etc. where the Euro cars without the 5MPH ugly bumper and emissions equipment are considered more desirable.
All 512TR came with clear/white rear turn signals. US cars came with a US specific rear bumper most notable for smaller plate cutout and slightly different design (sticks out slightly more rear). US cars came w amber rectangle front corner markers and slightly frosted foglights. Euro foglights were clear and the side lights were smaller circle lenses further back on the fender. The lower values Euro versions command are likely a reflection of production number (late US spec cars in particular are extremely rare) and the challenge of registering in California / 50 state legal status (my guess)
Me 2 - really enjoying it. Also picked up a similar circa GTB Turbo, lots of memories coming back after driving these cars back to back. I used to have a 512 TR and a 328 so it’s been fun. I’ll do a write up soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
