    Hi guys,

The radiator fan goes on and off very frequently when the car is on, doesnt matter if the car is cold or warm. Is this a f430 thing?

How often, it could be the resistor

    Which one?

Do you mean the thermoswitch on the radiator interconnecting pipes? If one of the resistors on the fans failed (open), the fan would come on at a higher temperature. The resistors are for basically reducing fan speed. Low trigger temperature = low speed.

Aircon gas pressures can also turn on the fans. AC working hard (or faulty switches seeing high compressor pressures when there isn't) puts on the fans. Perhaps there is an issue with those switches? When the fans come on when you don't think they should, does turning off the A/C immediately stop them?

Yes, I think we're talking about the same thing. my maserati did the same thing his is doing. there was a blister in the coil of the resistor or thermoswitch and it caused my fans to go off and on. i'm not sure why I called it a resistor but I think your terminology is more correct

My bet is A/c is on and you are hearing the condenser fan

Ah.. I see what you mean. You are correct in this case. If the resistor is breaking down (intermittently), it would make low speed fan operation cut in and out. i.e. not turn off because the temperatures were going down, but simply because the resistor temporarily went open circuit.

You were actually referring to the resistor...

    (Thanks for the photo)

I was referring to the blue thermoswitches

Since there are two resistors on the F430, you'd need to know which fan was coming on.

That's correct.. I would just check both easy enough
