    Hi all,

We recently became a sponsor on F-Chat and wanted to ask assistance on getting some data from Lusso owners on the engine bay temperatures of the Lussos and other V12 Ferrari to better understand the actual temperatures of the engine bay in relation to our batteries. This comes to light because I have been speaking with a Lusso owner recently who stated that there is know issue with very high temperature in the Engine bay of the Lussos, and how exactly will that effect a Lithium Battery. So he will be working with us to test to get some measured data on how hot the battery is getting. So I figured I would like to broaden the testing to get a bigger pool of data.

So to measure the Temperature, and Charging profiles we would provide you with a product we make, free of Charge and to keep after the testing, that is called the Antigravity Batteries - "Battery Tracker".
Its a small Bluetooth Battery Monitoring Device with an App that sends its data to your Phone. It has a very simple connection to the Vehicle's Battery by just loosening the Battery's Clamp Nut then sliding a Fork Terminal behind the loosened bolt and retightening. It quite simple to install, just connect to the easiest accessable Pos and Neg connection on your Battery Clamps at the battery. The "Battery Tracker" does NOT affect the battery in any negative way, nor can it harm your system at all. It does NOT create a parasitic draw on your battery because it only draws 1 milliamp which is insignificant to any battery discharge, it does not store or hold voltage it just measures voltage and temperature data points, then will send that data to the Phone via Bluetooth when you open its App.

We would simply ask you to send screenshots of this data when you have driven or when the car is sitting also. Below is a screenshot of how the graphic looks and what the device looks like. The top image is the voltage of my 296 when drive a month ago... the lower image is from an F-Chat member that has an F12 and been working with us for a few months to provide data.

So our point is just to understand the actual data regarding the temps that are reached in the engine bay at the battery and the Charging profiles of the Cars. Yes we know its getting cooler, but if you are driving up to an hour you should reach a high temp, but also we can get more info during summer next year and reach out to you again. Its also simple to get us the data, you just screenshot while in the app. You can even download a spreadsheet from it.

    We'd be looking for :

    - Testing on any V12 Ferrari so if you have a Lusso or other model V12 that would be good.

    - Persons who don't have a problem accessing their battery and installing the Battery Tracker. So, basically we want a mechanically inclined person who's wants to do this, or if you can get your Mechanic to install it that would be great....it is actually quite simple but I know some don't llke to work on cars.

-Persons who also drive relatively often... doesn't have to be everyday but once a week or every few weeks... there are two important data points we want... the temperature, then to see the charging profiles of the Cars when driving. Also another cool thing that the Battery Tracker can show is how fast your Car discharges while sitting in storage and not driving you can then learn how long you can go in between charging.

    - Person who can send us screenshots from the Bluetooth App via email, and do can commit to getting us the data. In other words you know how to get screen shots and will participate with us.

    - Person who is sort of nerdy about data and likes this type of testing stuff.

Lastly, its actually a very cool product!. So it isn't something you need to remove after the test, you will get alot of benefit from it, for example you can get your real-time battery voltage on your phone without ever opening the car, see your complete Historical data for 72 days on voltage, and temperature and other data points. You can test your voltage sag upon strating the car (a good indicator of battery health), test the charging system, tell temperature where your battery is at and other cool stuff. Its pretty slick. We just want to get data so we can better understand the nuances of the Lusso and other V12s and the temperature affect on our Lithium Battery if any.

Here is a link to see the product so you can analyze if you would like to assist in this test. >>> https://antigravitybatteries.com/products/accessories/battery/chargers/btr3-bluetooth-tracker/

Also a video to show what is does...

I will post another thread regading the Lusso and out battery so we can keep this thread only for the Battery Tracker Testing interest please. Thank you!

@Antigravity Batteries I have an FF and am looking at changing to an antigravity. Heat was one of my concerns since the batteries are relatively more expensive than an AGM. I diy and can install it and drive about once a week. Please shoot me a pm if interested.

Absolutely, thank you for reaching out, will send PM now.

This is perfect for us because you can test using the Battery Tracker with the Lead/Acid battery in your FF, and we can review your temperatures, but also your charging profiles, level of parasitic discharge, voltage drop when starting and get all that data firstly...... then if you do go with the Antigravity in the future we can see a very clear A/B comparison in voltage drops from starting, parasitic drain in Lead vs Lithium, over all voltage levels during storage and driving. So that is a great testing scenario to get hard and good hard data. We've actually done this on the 458,488, F8 and such a few months back, but they are not the V12, and don't have the high temp issues, so glad to get some participants here. I do have one F12 testing with us which is good too.

sounds good. my car is totally stock and the agm is less than a year old, so it should give a good baseline.
