    I listened to this podcast and I agree with Neil. I’m 30 and I find the 849T extremely attractive, it mixes all the design ethos of Ferrari that I like, overall squared off like a 288GTO/Testarossa but with the flair of a SP3. I know I’m in the minority but design is always subjective and my opinion doesn’t carry much weight since I can’t afford one any way.

    Though I’ve been thinking they could’ve shoved a V12 in the back and had some hybrid assist without the front motors, so a series production LaFerrari, would be much more interesting. they already have a hybrid 4WD track monster (F80) and a hybrid supercar (296GTB). I think the 849T should’ve been like the 12C, a car built on emotion rather than laptimes or 0-60 numbers.

    another aspect is the name, which is confusing;
    849 T = 8 cylinders and 499c per cylinder
    296 = 2.9 liters V6
    Wouldn’t be more appropriate and logical to have called it the 398 as in 3.9 V8 or to make it more distinct 839, instead of 849?

    I fully agree—398 would be much more logical and in line with Ferrari’s car-numbering tradition

    There is nothing more feminine and curvy than a 288, it is designed like a woman. In terms of vocabulary related to design, it is the perfect Coca-Cola bottle.
    comparing this thing to the 288 is like comparing rags and towels

    If it was a 398, people would have complained that it sounds like the old chevy little big block 396. :)

    You see femininity in the 288 design? To me it looks like it was chopped with an axe, I don't see much if anything organic and curvaceous about the shape of that car. Goes to see how subjective design is.

    Fioraventi's initial idea for his base, the 308, was to design an arrow that would give an impression of speed, even when stopped, seen from the side.
    For the 288, he widened the track, thus adding hips, nipped in the waist for a slim fit, and added a nice, voluptuous bust.
    Stand three meters behind it, in the center, and tell me what you think.
    She is known for this ! coca cola bottle effect...

    the question I have is why not keep the side strakes from the original? Is it an aerodynamic issue? has this been discussed?

    I see a bit of an homage to Testarossa's of the past, but for my taste the new 849 is ugly. Maybe I will think differently when I see one in person but in picture form, looks like a Transformer meets Legos.
