Hey everyone, After a long stretch of research (and a lot of help from this community), I finally went with the Inconel Kline exhaust on my F430. Just had it installed and I’m in love — huge difference coming from my previous Capristo. The F1 pitch is there now, I hear it, and I can’t stop smiling. One thing I’m still unsure about are the headers. They’re definitely aftermarket, look like a 4-1 setup, but brand is unknown. They seem fine so I’m not planning on changing them. So my question is: what’s the next move — cats? The F1 sound is there, but it could be crisper. My assumption is that the stock cats are holding it back. Curious what others have tried: 100-cell vs 200-cell — noticeable difference in pitch/volume/rasp? Any brands that pair especially well with 4-1 headers + Kline? CEL issues — any luck with spacers or tune? For street use, are 100-cells too aggressive (heat/smell), or still manageable? Would love to hear first-hand experiences and clips from anyone who’s dialed in this combo. Thanks again — this community really helped me get this far!
i have capristo headers, cap 200 cell cats and kline muffler. the car screams. i had the CEL addressed with ECU tune by trev.
Personally I would say don't even bother playing with spacers. Just get the tune and be done, you won't be disappointed. I also have a feeling most people will end up saying that the cats will just make things louder, not seriously influence the note, but I could be wrong. Be prepared for the noise though with sport cats. I run Fabspeed headers, Capristo 250 cell cats, Kline stainless, and a trev tune. Zero CEL, aallllll the power and noise.
Well, I’m not really looking for “Louder” at this point per se, but rather something crisper and just maybe a little more aggressive - so figured I needed some smaller cats??
I'd leave it alone. I have the Kline inconel on my 09. If you want a crisper sound, keep your stock cats, and change your headers to either Challenge headers or Tubi-Style. The 4-1 aftermarket headers sound deeper than the 4-2-1 OEM setup. If you go with Challenge headers, they have a more "hollow" sound, but are higher-pitched than 4-1 headers.
Inconel looks shiny and new even after many heat cycles. It also weighs almost nothing. Inconel exhausts have thinner walls, so they also have a slightly higher pitch/tone than stainless or titanium.
I picked them up used off of a super cool member here on the forums (shout out to Marco!) He only put about 900 miles on them then changed stuff up. I wasn't looking for any specific cell count or brand, just couldn't pass up a great product at literally half the cost of new. And I know the lack of CEL is because of the tune, my statement might not have conveyed that properly. I was always operating along the lines of don't mess with bandaids just get the tune and not even worry about a CEL due to exhaust stuff. As to your other comment about the Inconel craze, I'm kind of with you. I understand the weight, the thin wall effecting sound, etc. But dang it if they're not super expensive to get just a slightly different note. I'm not criticizing those who have gone the route, you do you boo, but I'm extremely happy with the noise I have with my stainless stuff.
I didn’t either until I owned it. It’s awesome. Looks super nice for a long time vs stainless. The sound it makes is also higher pitched with a metal raspiness. I won’t own a non Inconel system on an exotic car ever again.
I’ll look into this. I know it currently has a 4-1 aftermarket setup, just unsure of the brand.. I’ll discuss the next steps with my mechanic and get his thoughts too as I’m happy with how loud it now, just a bit crisper F1 pitch
I don’t believe this is correct. 4-1 is higher pitch from my understand. 4-2-1 is lower. I have Capristo headers (4-2-1) and it’s super aggressive but with a lower pitch vs. 4-1 headers.
I believe this is correct. I also believe "stepping" the headers down through the length is what also adds to the "f1" sound...and also the "correct" length
I obviously haven’t been here the longest but it seems this question falls in line with questions like which oil to use. There is no definitive answer and so many opinions.
I have Kline 4-1 SS headers, Kline SS 100 cell cats and the Kline SS exhaust. Love the sound. The 100 cell cats really increased the volume. Trev tune fixed all the lights and enhanced the drivability of the car.
I have Kline SS, Capristo test pipes, s line non Valved. An actual straight pipe. Too loud for me. Lost its tuned sound. The previous setup was my fav. Oem headers, capristo, s line. Was more high pitch. The Kline brought the tone slightly down. Wondering if the challenge headers would do the same since theirs no cat.
