Do you guys know, did that 330 live in Sydney in the mid to late 80s? The guy used to really give it the berries in the supersprints. Chirped 3rds (I'm presuming) every lap in the same spot on pit wall at Amaroo. Impressed this already indoctrinated youth. Good stuff!
That was David Levy's 365GTC and yes, he was a spirited driver (and a great bloke). The car was probably only making 200-ishRWHP so the chirping may have been a result of aged and hard tyres. It's been thoroughly rebuilt since then, a healthy 365 is 320hp at the crank.
Interesting conundrum if you were an up $1.5 mill Ferraristi in Aussie at the moment. If the Lotto fell my way I'd choose this and not the 365GTB 4
Don't know if you're takin' the p i s s but they're an understated elegance. eMore than enough performance that you'll ever need. Plenty of room for beer, and you'll never ever get the question 'Is it a real one'
I've driven both (and owned one) and it's no contest, the Daytona is better in every way. A plexi Daytona also has better steering (later Daytonas are hard work around town). There is no other car from that era that sits so solidly on the road at high speed, or has so much power throughout their rev range. The GTC is a repackaged 275, it has pressed steel control arms that flex under load, a "sit up & beg" driving position and an engine that has not only less horsepower, but less torque and a narrower power band. For years they were 2/3rds the price of a Daytona, until the 275 market ran away, making the GTC a poor man's 275.
100 patcent. But my choice would be the svelt and much rarer 365 irrespective of performance differences...and it's never going to be confused with a Datsun 240 rep.
Not taking the p. I just don’t think the Daytona is a good looking car. Never have understood the fuss over them, regardless of how well they may drive.
