Knowing Ferrari its not available on its own but start by looking in one of the online parts books eg www.ferraripart.co.uk

Then if it is try to find it - if its no longer available you'll need to try to find it secondhand

    Hi,

    Thank you for your help.

Yes I started looking for it on that site, and other sites. I was just trying to figure out which part number it could be?

This is the second time I've seen this issue. Very curious how that happened. Isn't that metal?

I don't know for sure why this happens. But my guess is the straps are getting weak. And when closing the roof it closes hard to the top of windshield then cracks... I know whenever I close my roof and I see that coming down towards the top of the windshield, I put my hand up there to give it a soft landing

@The Pilot - You're not going to be able to replace that part. The only rational choice is to repair it.

    Two choices:
    1. Remove the part and have it welded (it's aluminum or magnesium) and repainted.
    2. Repair it in situ. That's how I did it.

My 360 Spider had the part broken when I bought it and a hastily done fix by the former owner didn't last the trip on the car trailer. I fixed it by first sanding off all the paint, then using a metal friendly epoxy mixed with fiberglass fibers and applied as a paste to both sides of the part, then sanding it smooth and painting with appropriate paint. Cost: $10 or so. Five years later, it's still solid and probably stronger than new.

As @LorenzoR mentioned, what seems to happen is when the elastic bands (there are 14) get weak, the top falls into the capote tray and that part impacts into the tray, cracking it. Eventually, it will fail.

Another effect of weak straps is overstressing your secondary cylinders which are about shoulder position in the top. They have to take up the load when the straps lose their stretch and they are frighteningly small and weak. Any additional strain causes the seals to fail, and that leads to a lot of other issues.

Check your straps. Replace them, and fix your broken piece yourself. Total DIY job.

Here's my long and boring elastic band article:

I have straps available that will get him by until and if he decides to have the whole top and all the straps replaced.
