I Would love to see more cars out in the flesh to help with my color choice. It seems that the speciale looks good in almost any color!

The paint and livery pricing has become so exorbitant that I’m reconsidering my spec.

I was looking at triple layer paint + triple layer livery and the cost is coming to around 20% of the base price just for exterior paint and livery (stripes and numbers only)

I’m strongly considering doing a standard paint for the exterior and getting a colored PPF for exterior (as I have to do PPF anyway) and do the livery myself with colored PPF. Colored PPF has come a long way and looks indistinguishable from paint, provided the installation job is good.

I don’t plan to sell the car so resale is not a factor. This also would be easier to repair as triple layer paint is hard to match in bodyshops. Also gives me flexibility to change the color spec in a few years if I want to.

I just saw an amazing colored PPF wrap at SAGE Auto Studios. I was shocked- how good it looked. They also do CF wrap that is indistinguishable from the real thing. The cost of these items is really out of hand for just cosmetics. The price of everything and the value of nothing?

Exactly this with me too! Livery and Paint cost over 100K. Now rethinking things too!

People spec'd 360 Stradale Scuderia Speciale Pista def got back what they paid for special items and then some.
We all took a big hit 100 - 150k on 296 some even more - only live once and these only come around every five years.
One year to see the debut, one or two years to get the car.
Seems worth getting what you want after 3 years - paint may not be worth the dollars, small car if you are getting stripes and numbers. There are great historical paints - no one can tell 95% of the time.

The cost of these paint options is going to cause depreciation in this model for highly spec’d cars beyond what’s normal. It’s the options where we are all getting killed.

    On limited editions?
Short term - yes / long term - no
I really think long term TM and Atelier will go for a lot more than non.
People move to the front of the line with big specs - there are advantages.
Agree you don't need 40 -75k paint, but on a LE I think the downside if any is minimal.
Porsche PTS goes for way above the cost - it's more limited but I think TM and Atelier is becoming more limited as well or at least more rare. My 812GTS TM sells way above the cost difference.

Historically, sure. But these new options pricing are well above historical norms for this brand.

I think these insanely expensive builds are not going to fare well until people stop doing them- and they become rare again.

At one time very few paid these crazy prices and they were really scarce or rare- now they are almost common. The AF package on the 296 is meaningful- and no one cares because there are too many sellers. That could be a one off for a variety of reasons and it’s just the same- expensive builds are too common on the secondary market and most 2nd hand buyers will not pay up for what is no longer rare.

I only purchased my AF 296 because of the heavy discount. I like it but I wouldn’t have paid MSRP to get it. And I think there is real value in the AF.

A hyper car with too many options- that may hold up because it starts out rare to begin with. The rest- is a suckers game if you’re doing it for “investment “. Respectfully IMO.
