That is the time I was thinking of, thank you!

 

The ROMA steel plates with 0402AM were with the car when it arrived from France to Seattle when Jon acquired her. We restored them at Pete Lovely Racing as part of the total restoration process. [I did the rear plate to remove the damage to it.] I have the 35mm negatives of it in my restoration archive of the chassis. The restored plate was put on 0402AM as part of the final assembly process when first brought to Pebble in 1998. I have no idea if the metal ROMA plates were changed in the years since though.

Jon had the [vintage date coded] Washington State license added for street driving and was how the car was legally titled/registered for road usage during his ownership.

 

When you consider that in 1964, a Fiat 600, would cost around 590,000 lire, and he bought a 1955
old POS Ferrari, for half the price of a 600? And the parents were gifting him a 500...

My salary, that year, was 500 lire per week, to buy a comic book, cappuccino at school
and some white pizza for mid morning snack. Did not have anything else to buy. Had a piggy bank...
Movies were free at the Parochial cinema at San Bellarmino, for those that know Rome, Parioli neighborhood.

Of course even then, spare parts for a 12 cilinder car, would cost an arm and 1/2 a leg, so this young man
goes off and buys a 1955 car, a most fantastic car, that to consider it today, it is absolutely insane.

I love the story.
