As a DIYer, I have been searching for a couple of days now and can't seem to find recent advice for setting the PIS on our F1 trans cars. I hope I'm not missing something because I hate posting stuff that's been covered a million times.
What is the go-to hardware/software for adjusting the PIS on a 2000 360 with F1 transmission?
    Last I found was:

"LAUNCH X431 CRP919E Elite OBD2 Scanner, 2023 Bidirectional Scan Tool, CANFD DoIP, 31+ Service, ECU Coding, Full Systems Diagnosis, FCA Autoauth,Key Programming,Crank Relearn"

....but that thread was a few years old. I'd like to monitor clutch life and be able to properly set one up install, when that day inevitably comes.
Sooooo.... What are y'all using these days?

    Thank you, in advance!

The software is easy - even a Thinkdiag 2 can do it - very inexpensive
The question is having the right level TCU for any non ferrari tool / leo to communicate
Given you have a 2000 .. you will need to upgrade your TCU to a later version ( best would be to a CS version)
Only then you will be able to use non ferrari SD software / tool or a Leo

I don't know what any of that means, but I can definitely Google! Thank you.

Okay, all. Looks like I've decided on:

Launch Tech USA X-431 Torque III

Anyone happen to know if there is much difference between a Torque III and Torque V? I can get the III for much, much less than that V. Thanks, in advance!

You will not get any more functionality from one of those than a thinkdiag 2 .. unless you have a need to use it on other more.modern cars the thinkdiag (launch software) will give you everything you can do on a 360 ..which is limited again in the version of TCU

The thinkdiag2 for less than 200 will do and not do exactly what those more expensive brothers do/ not do on a Ferrari 360

Not sure where you are getting your info but please know I am telling you as it is

I'll look into that. I'm getting my info from people who all basically say the same thing: that everything they have read is a "it may work" and "it should do those things" or "it will work if you..." and this is the only tool that someone was able to find video and documentation that it worked, out of the box, without needing anything else. After months of frustration trying to figure all this out (let's face it, a step-by-step can't be found anywhere, by most of us), some of us are willing to pay for something that just works.

I'd love to save a ton of money, but I'm also tired of researching LOL.

You should follow Dominick's advice. None of the Launch X431 tools will allow you to connect to a 2000 TCU, and even less to set the PIS.

This generation of TCU does not allow the PIS to be adjusted manually. The PIS is self-learned (poorly) by the TCU itself. All that can possibly be done, with a compatible diag tool (not an X431), is to modify the "new clutch position" value to try to improve the behavior of the clutch.

Changing the TCU to one of the latest 360s, or a CS one, is your best option. This would allow you to use an inexpensive Thinkdiag/Autel tool to make the TCU adjustments that suit your car.

This is a good example of what I mean. From what I'm reading, we set the PIS value then test drive the car to see if it's right. Adjust accordingly. The CCP is then figured by the ECU in order to account for changes in disk thickness, in order to keep the PIS value the same.
So, all this back and forth.. when I find a vid of a guy with an x431 actually doing what I want, I tend to just take the win, even if it is more expensive...otherwise I end up going around in these circles.
I'm not sure how the guy in the video is actually able to show this working if it's not supposed to. I'll find the link and post here.

You cannot do that on a 2000 TCU.
You can do that on a TCU starting end-2001 ... though not for all of them with a cheap tool.

No need to Google ..Eric above can do upgrades ..done many for Ferrarichat folks ..

Once reflashed to a CS version ..you can buy a thinkdiag2 to adjust anything you want

I promise you will thank us ..car will perform so much better and may even save you clutch life

Resurrection: I have a 2000 360 with a 2003 TCU #211023. Want to do a PIS adjustment, just bought a ThinkDiag+. I thought it would be pretty simple and straightforward, but doesn’t seem to be. Does anyone have very specific simple outlined steps using the ThinkDiag+?

It's actually super easy IF you know where to find PIS in the menus.
If you haven't figured it out by next weekend, hit me up. I can write something out for you.

I found it but it’s not straightforward, I was thinking it would be a series of prompts and walk you through it. But mine isn’t like that. It’s also very odd wording / language in some of these pop ups like those English written instructions for putting together shelves that were clearly written by someone in china.

Haha. It is a clumsy system with odd translation. Any time I have to go back in, it's like learning all over again.
