I know it’s just an image and starting point for the next season but it’s funny you, who like me can’t stand betting focused sports, use a draftkings odds image to kick off this new thread. :D

Fair, but I don’t do any gambling except buying sports cards in wax packs, but I do think betting “smart money” gives the best indication, just like it did election.

Little Mitchie Marner signs 8 years for 12 million a season with Las Vegas G Knights.
Never cared much for him as he exhibits Prima Donna symptoms.
A very rich 28 year old, give him that.

Alex Pietrangalo "retires". Needs hip surgery and its unlikely he'll return at his age. The Golden Knights wish him well but it looks like his career has ended. For sure, in the last 3 months, he was not the same player we knew. It was obvious something was wrong.

What a Gentleman Alex was :) I had the pleasure of not only meeting him several times but also playing against he and the other Red Wings Alumni in charity hockey games. I can tell you that they all might be "retired" from the NHL, but still extremely capable of totally embarrassing an old, slow beer-league Defenseman. SO much fun! And then after the game we'd enjoy "afterglow" parties with them - sit around listening to them tell stories while all nursing a ginger ale.

Anyway, here's an old style - as in prolly mid to late 1960's - Northland Pro Lam model 732C in Left 6 lie, corners sharp not like the rounded edges of today's hockey sticks. Got it signed not only by Alex, but also Mickey Redmond (#20), Larry Murphy (#55), and Joey Kocur (of the Bruise Brothers when teamed with Bob Probert, #26).

Last Stars preseason game. I wasn't expecting much, but they played hard, sold out, and more fights than I've seen in years. 17 penalty minutes each team. At least 3 fights.

Not sure how many of you guys saw the Lightning Panthers preseason game, but it’s a sad premonition of what’s to come yet again this season in how the league treats FLA. Panthers are immediately back to their dirty headhunting and the Lightning responded with physicality and defending stars with fights etc. The result? 77 penalty minutes against Tampa along with 6 misconducts.

You’d think this would all be cleaned up and addressed by the league afterwards. Instead NHL director of operations Collin Campbell dishes out a couple of suspensions plus $125k in fines on Tampa. So what’ll happen did the Panthers get? Zip. Of course when your AGM is the son of the director of operations it seems to be expected these days… particularly when the same league awarded the Conn Smythe to a player who intentionally injured players in every series through the playoffs. The message is clear. The panthers can play as dirty as they’d like and you are not allowed to play them the same way. Period. It used to be guys like Probert or Domi or McSorley would beat the ever loving hell out of guys who play like the panthers, and it would be justified. Now they hide behind nepotism in a very clearly rigged league and it appears nothing can/will be done about it. Unbelievably disappointing to see we’ll have another season of this ********.
