599 GTO production

Perhaps a loaded question in some respects. The car was launched in 2010 and I am assuming most of the production was completed in 2011? Or were some cars produced into 2012?

Has anyone ever been able to determine exactly their exact car number in production, for example say 220 of 599 (yes I know 599 is the official number)? Would this even be possible short of having a full list of chassis numbers/build numbers?

AFAIK Ferrari does not produce cars in serial number order, so it's unlikely.

 

I have recently seen a carbon interior door panel removed and on the back of the carbon was a number hence my question, definitely not a parts number and it is hand written.

Likely the body number which will not relate directly to the order of production or chassis number.

With reference to the question in the first post, I'm not 100% sure but I believe 599 GTO production was completed in 2011 although some of the last cars were not delivered/registered until 2012.

 

Interesting as this particular car was completed in September 2010.

 

That's probably about right bearing in mind a car will typically be completed maybe a couple of months before it get registered. So without knowing the build dates for all the cars, and noting that the body number would only be vaguely related to the build number, it doesn't seem unreasonable that they were building somewhere around the 400th at that point.
