Would you trade either an 812 GTS or a Pista for a 296 Speciale

  1. Keep Both and Pass on the 296 Speciale

  2. Trade 812 GTS

  3. Trade Pista

I love the Pista. Engine note could use some more balls but every other aspect is incredible IMO.

I think you can find a Scud for low 3’s still. I got mine for 315 with only 5k miles. They haven’t exploded yet.

They were 270-325 for a year but post Monterey higher - and also low supply might not be helping. Will see how it develops this winter.

I haven't driven Pista on the street but did on track with a helmet and definitely thought the 296 was more fun because of sound, chassis size, and just about as useful for my driving skills speed/agility wise. I also don't remember the Pista being at Porsche or even Lambo level steering feel, still felt "electric-y" to me. ANd I'm not a baller enough to risk warranty with exhaust on a Pista. At current prices I'd do a 765LT (stock) vs Pista or SF90 for a high performance 296 alternative.

Eh yeah but at the end of the day a 911 is just a 911. Driving experience is about as good as it gets but it lacks the emotion you get from a Ferrari. I had a GT3 and a 992 Turbo and neither felt like an event when I went for the keys like when I fire up the Ferrari. Special every time.

Also surprised you feel the Pista steering is overly controlled but love the 296 since its full electric EPS steering. I just came back from Corsa Pilota and spent 3 days on track with the 296 and its steering is far more clinical than the Pista. Incredibly precise but def feels more assisted. Car is exceptional but it’s full electric steering. Personally I also prefer the pre F8 Ferrari design too.

Sound def better in the 296

Clinical is a good word for 296 steering, disconnected in feedback yet so connected in instant response is a big dissonance.

Unpopular opinion here but I'd take 4RS if I had to go down to 1 mid- or rear-engine. Part of that is because of the "event" ness of it despite how many 4RSs there are around here. Feels more like an event to me than 296 as a driver.

Drove a 4RS 500 miles yesterday and it was fun the whole time and not too bad in traffic - yet had no trouble sleeping, walking, or hearing today.

I've also never had friends fall asleep in the passenger seat of 4RS but have in 3RS, GT3, and 296.

Different opinions make the world go round. You’re extremely partial to Porsches. I find the current generation extremely boring. I wouldn’t go near any of them vs a 296.

the new Turbo intrigues me if it eliminates lag. But there’s nothing very special about it. And the price is now Nuts

  6. Ferrari steering, Pista or otherwise, has always been "twitchy" and so sensitive as it makes you feel like you could steer with two fingers..

I seriously feel like Ferrari tunes it this way to make the car feel lighter.

The GTS T-Hybrid is sharper for the hybrid system and sounds more growly and to me interesting than the non-T-Hybrid/RS 992s.

But it's not a brutal difference like in the G90/G99 M5, GT63E, or Urus SE.

And it's a bit less electric kick than 296, Artura, or Eray.

All of which makes sense since it's not plugin, no electric range, and the added weight from the system is so low.

Sleeping? Strange friends you have- maybe you drive too slow?. Steering… Clinical? I’d say amazingly precise and accurate- so much so- it feels like an extension of myself- hardwired from my brain.

I thought the 4RS wasn’t special and the ride was ridiculously harsh for the road. Comparing secondary market prices- I sold the 4RS and bought two 296’s because the 296 was so, so much more special and superior in literally every way. There’s a place for the 4RS… your garage. :)

Certainly precise and accurate. Clinically so. Less feelsome. Car is certainly the most agile-feeling car over 2500 lbs I've driven.

Sounds like 4RS is not for you - no cars are for all. But 24/25 4RS seem to ride a lot softer than 23, even softer than 991 RS, but not as soft as 296.
