Most worrying thing is What is going on behind the doors right now.. 2026 project could be a huge failure comparable with 2014..
Imagine these lunatics haven't learned from 2014 (which wouldn't be too surprising seeing how many people they fire) and produce another dog with a **** engine. It's the Ferrari way.
the fact that they took a really good car from last year and did all sorts of daft transformations on it ''because lewis will like it'' says it all. Changing the concept of a car in the last year as because an incoming driver is used to that setup. Ludicrous.
To be honest i’m not sure Lewis is the main culprit for this, More so they decided to put a pull rod on front suspension without being sure of the gain they would have with this setup.. Looks like a bunch of second zone technicians doing things because auto sprint or the Gazzetta dello sport Said it would be better with this ..
Mclaren and RedBull have had this pull rod front suspension for awhile and it's very aggressive NOT TO MENTION the marriage between the front suspension and rear suspension work in harmony. Mclarens and RedBulls front pull rod suspension is very aggressive as I have posted pics in comparison with Ferrari's NEW pull rod front suspension(which hasn't been used by Ferrari since 2015). Now, or really when the NEW and UPGRADED rear suspension came into light at Belgium(Spa), the car has been a flop not cohesively working with the front suspension. The balance of the car is all wrong.
Indeed it seems aéro isn’t the problem. Front and rear suspension seems disconnected and doesn’t work together properly. Like a car designed by two different teams.
The only time when Ferrari took advantage of a change was in ...1961 at the start of the 1.5 litre formula. Carlo Chiti designed the FIRST rear engine Ferrari F1 with a powerful V6 engine; it dominated. The Brits (Cooper, Lotus) came unprepared and were caught with the pants down. The next season, it went pearshape, following the sacking of most of the artisans behind that success. Ferrari looked to have the advantage again in 1966 when the 3 litre formula came about. They were the only team with a decent engine (a destroked V12 endurance unit though), and started winning. But Surtees departure and the shamble that followed gave advantage to the simpler Brabham-Repco. Since, Ferrari has been reactive rather than proactive at any change. I cannot see them leading in 2026.
I really hate to say this (even though I have said it before here) however it has been a fact that Ferrari have never mastered the front pull rod. For whatever reason they cannot get it don’t properly. All years they’ve had it they have struggled. During Alonso era and now today. I understand they thought they should get it ready for 2026 by starting it on the 2025 car however for whatever reason it has not worked once again even though they seemingly on paper had the internal brain power to potentially make it successful.
They were close to win WDC with Alonso in 2012. Don’t think this is the main reason. Strongly believe their engineering level is poor compared with others top team
I don't think Ferrari is coherent with the cars dynamics with regards to how the front suspension works with the rear suspension given that this is a new platform for them since 2015. I am sure Ferrari has a database with terabytes of data of the current tracks and all there undulations and can transfer that data on to a 1 to 1 scale of the current car that is on a jig to emulate whatever track and replicate as if the car is on the track. What do I know.... . There's no unlimited testing but that's the same for everyone. It seems Mclaren, RedBull and Mercedes(in that order) seem to have a leg up on Ferrari.
Possibly more than them, if you look back at the utter failure of the 2013,14,15 cars that suspension set up on non GE cars was a disaster. Loic Bigois was and is still at the team, perhpas he should of put his hand up at the technical meeting !
