The market in Europe is so much more palatable than in the U.S… I’d love to import one to the U.S.

Feel like many including myself have explored it and sadly its incredibly cost prohibitive. Even if there was some savings it’s not remotely worth the headache. Sucks

Let’s say I use my dealers license and just keep it in inventory…what would be the costs to import it? VAT?

I think the limiting step on these EU/Japanese cars to get into the US is getting a letter from Ferrari saying it complies with US rules when they visually don't without even asking (lack of sidemarkers for example). There was a time the cars in the middle east were US-spec and could be brought over easily, but I think even now they have their own variant. If you could get a letter saying it complies and avoid federalization, you would have to pay 25% import duties or whatever the new rate applies to unless the car is over 25 years. That would probably negate all the savings. The Speciale goes for $400-500k in Japan and they have dozens available all the time (not Aperta, regular one).

    Observations and Valuation Interpretation
    • Top-end examples (excellent condition, low miles) are selling between $750,000–$810,000+ in 2025.
    • Midrange / slightly higher mileage cars are trading around $600,000–$700,000.
    • The Hagerty benchmark ($619,500) represents a conservative reference point.
    • The Saratoga auction record ($808,500) suggests continued strong collector demand.

Indicative Insurance Valuation Range (U.S., 2025):
    • Excellent / low-mileage condition: $800,000–$850,000+
    • Good / moderate mileage: $700,000–$750,000
    • Higher mileage or less original: $600,000–$700,000

For insurance purposes, replacement or agreed-value coverage should be set toward the upper end of the appropriate range to reflect current market trends and replacement cost in comparable condition.
