All, Just an FYI: I installed an aluminum radiator in my Mondial 8, with double fans from Ebay (Winner Racing). It arrived in 5 days from China and works perfectly. I came with a small dent from shipping but nothing major. I did not weigh it, but its something like half the weight of the original. I wired it up so that both fans turn on together (I have no AC, BTW). Together they consume 9-10 amps --- my single original consumed 6-7 amps. Seems to work great! Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can buy from Ebay (Winner Racing). They are in China and claim/seem-to-be the manufacturer of many radiators for many cars.
Looks great. Wondering of this would fit my 3.2 - I think so. I’m guessing there is no bleed screw? Also, what’s the relevance of air conditioning (I have it)? Cheers, Mark
Earlier cars, not sure the cutoff date, that had two fans and AC would run one fan until the AC kicked in and then the second one would turn on with the air conditioning. Alden
My '85 QV Coupe only has one fan, and AC. I was considering a 2 fan upgrade. It seems like there is existing wiring to support the second fan already in place. Am I opening the proverbial "Can Of Worms" with this? I am nervous about connecting two fans to the single circuit as electricity is not my friend. Opinions? Zeke Central Oregon USA
There is a wire already provided where a second radiator can be put. And on the fuse board you just have to instal a relais ending 113 on this place = Image Unavailable, Please Login I did instal a second radiator on my QV from 82 with good results. So, there is already a second circuit for a second radiator. Just FYI, my 82 Mondial did seem to have a second wire pair for a second fan, but I wired in a new circuit with relay that is activated by the original and now drives two fans ..my 2 fans consume about 50% more amps than one. See my original post. And both fans turn on at the same time
There are some spare parts brokers in Europe like = (no affiliation) www.redbaycars.com www.eurospares.co.uk I believe,(about 15 years ago !!) I did get mine from the first one.
if you want the modern, upgraded version of the radiator fan, below is correspondence from SPAL. I installed this and it is light years better than the original - I also have an extra one that is brand new but one of the mounting tabs needs a minor repair - PM me if interested: FROM SPAL: I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that SPAL no longer offers the 3 bolt motor mounting style. When that fan was originally produced SPAL took a ‘centrifugal blower’ motor and made a mounting plate so that it interfaced with the shroud. We haven’t produced a motor of that style in 20+ years. The good news is I was able to find that the shroud style still exists and is produced today, so there is a ‘new’ part floating around that would maintain the same mounting but use our new motor/blade combination. NEW part number/part description à 30102076 - VA04-AP70/LL-37A OLD part description = VA04-A13-12/A VA04 is the shroud. A13 is the old 12V motor style, the new motor is the AP70/LL motor. (The new one is IP68 sealed and designed for continuous duty.) 12/A is the old 4 paddle puller blade, the new one is 37A, which is a 5 paddle puller blade. I just Google’d the 30102076 and found there are a few dealers in the U.K. selling that part number. Unfortunately we don’t import this version into North America, so I can’t help out get one outside of telling you to buy one from the U.K. https://www.crushingscreeningparts.com/Visit-Our-Shop/SPAL-Automotive/Cooling-Fans-12v24v/VA04-AP70LL-37A-44-10-1037 https://www.malpasairflow.co.uk/itm/11-280mm-Fans/SPAL-11-280mm-Cooling-Fan-VA04-AP70-LL-37A-12v-1410-cfm-Pulling/30102076
