It's a cheap part but $700 in labor. I can't seem to find much information about it's location or what's involved other than, "it's under the dash". . .FYI, if you are throwing AVH and ESC failure codes, this is the usual couplet because the switch is also a canbus for all that. . .

My brake switch was going bad. Intermittent, so sometimes the engine won't start no matter how hard you step on the brakes.

My 2016 Cali T was at the dealer for annual service so I told them to fix the engine start malfunction issue.

The dealer charged me $1,200.00 to troubleshoot, remove and replace the brake switch. I looked up the part and it's only like $70.

Had I known they will charge me that much I would have replaced it myself. It should be an easy DIY replacement.

I have a copy of the workshop manual. PM me if you want a copy.

Any one who had done this can you comment. I have the new switch and it appears to be accessible at the top and in front of the brake pedal which can only be accessed with the removal of the lower dash trim under the steering wheel. How do you remove this piece?

I struggled with the switch for hours then asked my wife with smaller hands to try. Twist and click done in 10 min.

i got it - clocwise to remove, anticlockwise to reinstall - ended up taking out the fuse box to get visible access - not completely necessary but helped a lot
