So I very stupidly replaced the "Evil Energy" fuel pump on my '82 308 with the same unit and SHOCKER it has failed in the exact same place.

Here's the one from my post on 5/25

And here's the one today... looks to have failed in the exact same place... if you see it's kind of "puckered" to a point at the bottom.

Does anyone have a good alternative that won't leak in 8 months?

There are several Bosch units that work for the 328 and fit on the same mounting sled used in your 308. I assume at least some of the 328 pumps would also work in your injected 308 but you will need to look at all the specs because the pumps cover different parts of the pressure vs. flow rate vs. current envelope and it's not simple.

The Bosch USA website used to have a lookup tool that had pumps for both the 308 and 328 when I used it a couple years ago. At the time, it spec'd Bosch USA part # 69532 for my 328, which I've had in the car for almost 4 years now with no issues. Unfortunately I didn't ever check on part numbers for the 308 but your model would require lower flow rate than my 328 so you probably have even more options as long as you can stay within current draw specs for your fuel pump circuit (I believe that is a sore spot with the 308 fuse board).

I have a bunch of pump performance maps posted in this thread: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/328-fuel-pump-options.656924/

I have the exact same pump. Knock on wood, no leaks with the pump itself. Seems odd the steel and aluminum pump chassis would spontaneously collapse in on itself. Perhaps you went to too tight on the cage? Have you checked for leaks further downstream with the check valve and banjo fitting copper crush washers? I struggled getting a seal on the banjo fitting at the check valve. A couple of FChatters squared me away on the proper procedure and all as been good since.

It's not the valve, it's leaking in the same place it did in May... exact same place.

If it were the bracket I imagine there would be some kind of deformation around that. But that's not it... the bracket is snug and not overtight. It looks to me like it's a seal at the very end of the pump that over time just cavitates and then the metal ring follows suit.

If you take off the support and do it on the bench it's not difficult to get right. Trying to do it on the car I would imagine you'd have issues.

How long have you had the pump? Do you have an '82 and how many miles are on the pump?

Thanks yeah I looked through that entire thread and to be honest a lot of it is over my head.

I have an updated fuse board so I'm guessing the board wouldn't be an issue. But I don't know that for sure.

OK, with an updated fuse board you should have leeway with current. So if you can find a lookup/crossmatch for pumps that has the 308 listed, you should be able to find the right Bosch unit. There are numerous old and new part #'s that crossmatch but many are no longer available, so the trick is to figure out which ones are still being sold. The older pumps tended to have an integrated inlet barb and the thread-on outlet fitting (with check valve) may or may not be included. The newer pumps package the pump with a thread-on inlet barb, thread-on outlet fitting, and all needed crush washers.

Here are all the Bosch documents I accumulated during my previous research. This should point you in the right direction.

As far as I can tell Bosch 0580464125 is correct. And I can find it available.

Of course there is no listing that shows it's compatible with the '82 308 but we'll see I guess.

Yeah, seems like quite a few people have used that pump on 308's with good results, so it's probably a safe bet.
