I’m seriously considering buying a 296 GTB. Should I only be purchasing from an authorized Ferrari dealer? Seems like there may be better deals through an independent, or other car dealership.

    Thanks in advance,

Depends if you are looking to move up the list and be offered new cars. If yes, dealer, if no and just want a 296, get the best deal. Of course, do your due diligence and get the car history and have to PPId.

Thanks. Not looking to move up the list. I'm concentrating on 2024+, with super low miles. What about getting extended warranties, etc.?

Well, it you're in PV, you have a great dealership just down the road. I'm sure any car you buy you can take there and get set up with what you need. If buying from a dealer, you generally are getting a good car that has been thoroughly gone through. The guys at South Bay catch every little thing.

If it's under warranty, it doesn't matter where you buy it. The warranty and included maintenance still applies.

Extended warrantees on pre-owned are much cheaper buying from a Ferrari dealer. I prefer from a F dealer= and sometimes the spec you want comes from a reseller.

I appreciate the advice. Glad to hear that I can open the search to other dealers as opposed to simply buying through a dealer.

Thanks, Lagunae92. I agree, South Bay is terrific. I have just seen some lower prices elsewhere and want to make sure that if I purchase from either an individual or a dealer outside the Ferrari network, I'm not making a mistake.

There are so many available. I’m sure you can strike the right deal with whomever you deal with. But given how many are available at Ferrari dealerships around the country, why not go right to the source. You’ll get the police you want within reason.

100%. I just can't get why there are so many 296s around. In Ferrari SF there are currently 13 models, most of them AWESOME and at a reasonable price. Bet you can negotiate and get $5k-$10k off too. This one is a steal IMHO:

BTW I've just come back from the track. Pushed the GTS AF package so hard for a few hours, about 25-30 laps on a private open session day. My goodness... and as Clarkson used to say: what a machine!!! So much funnnnn, didn't miss a beat, power delivery through the roof, brakes are amazing, etc, etc. Then, I drove back home for 3 hours and as if I hadn't been there. Unreal...

As I've said before, the only thing I miss is a bit more volume from the exhaust. At the track with windows down it's just too quiet. But everything else... just a phenomenal car.
