Thanks Chip, wow you tried hard to lose the rattle!! I'm thinking what the cause(s) might be, including the spacers rattling (although my rattle sounds harsher than plastic on metal), the splines chattering at idle as the revs fluctuate slightly......it stops when throttle load is applied) The spline arrangement is odd in that the gearbox end is "clamped", but the engine end isn't - why clamp one end and should it be clamped down tight or just enough to provide a tight but slide fit I wonder? I'm going to try the heaviest grease I can buy on the engine spine to see if that helps. Also I'm thinking to use some stick on heavy duty, foil backed sound absorbing material in the top of the torque tube to see if that does any good and that tube is a sound tube! Lastly does anyone know if the longer or shorter spacer goes at the engine end on the auto car M (completely different to manual)
GTA owners out there ? I just got a quote for like 8 hours of labor to change the trans fluid in my GTA and do all three filters here in LA. The (prominent) shop has never done a GTA trans fluid change. Like Ever. The rear bumper has to come off anyway to fix something unrelated (heat wrap) and that is 3 hours of labor. I just can’t see another 5 hours on top of that for a fluid change. I previously had the fluid and two easy access filters changed for a couple hundred bucks and was wondering if any GTA owners had this service done recently. I Decided to punt due to the cost estimate and the lack of familiarity at the shop.
