Matra only won 3 races as an engine supplier: 1977 Swedish GP and the 1981 Canadian and Austrian GPs, all in Ligier chassis (listed as Talbot-Ligier in 1981) and driven by Jacques Lafitte.

Indeed. I do wonder though how effective, if at all, that huge intake in the nose was.

I think the first left is Bellof, next Patrese needs haircut, next to Mansells moustache, folowed by DeCesaris trying to see where he can crash his car..can´t remenber the enxt one, than Alboreto and next Cheever?? and i agree, Manfred is the last one.
other row, De Angelis, Piquet, Warwick and Senna.

Between de Cesaris and Alboreto, it looks like Cecotto to me.

Between de Angelis and Warwick, it must be Philippe Alliot.

Probably right, i wasn't sure about Nelson, it didn't look him 100%, but couldn't recall anyone else that looked similar to him.

i miss the days when you would start with the old car and than change it a few races into the season, and completly shift the pecking order....it was so much more unpredictable...

Yes I completely agree. It's much too regimented these days with limited testing permitted, only one tyre supplier and of course the huge restrictions that are budget caps.

I rather think this is how it should be today - might see some passing and who can really drive and I include going back to a manual gearbox - I recall Frank Gardner said he realised he was not cut out for formula 1 when he was passed by (can't remember) in the rain, sideways, airborne and changing gear..
