The Airbag Control Unit, Part # 179793, on my 2005 360 has failed. I went looking for a replacement and immediately hit the "No Longer Available" wall. I talked to the parts departments of a few different Ferrari dealers and asked for advice. They didn't have any. How can a major component for the safety system fail and there not be a solution offered by the manufacturer?

I'm need for your advice and help, please. Has anyone hit this problem and found a solution? Does anyone know of a shop that repairs these modules? Can I get a used one and just swap it out or does it need to be programmed with specific details from my car?

I think he's referring to the ECU not the actual airbag

Can I swap it out with a used part? Is there information stored on it that is specific to the car?

Thanks for the recommendation! I called them directly and they don't have them in stock and haven't for years. The website shows the price but doesn't show availability. They are just not available new anywhere that I can find. I talked to FoNE and they claim that you can't use a used part because the VIN is encoded to the unit. I talked to Tom at All Ferrari Parts. He acknowledged that they just aren't available new. He pointed me to one on eBay for $2000. I was warned that a bad unit could trigger the airbag to deploy. That's all I need. This is so frustrating that Ferrari doesn't have a solution for this.

I would love to know how the used unit can be reprogrammed to work with my car.

Ferrari has not had them in years.

FAI can have yours rebuilt in days.
