    Hi All,

Trying to decide whether to use a registration plate with personal reference to my own name or looking at Ferrari/model number inspired reg plate?

    Any thoughts and experiences?
    Cheers.

With very rare exception, I never understand putting the brand or model name/number as a the license plate. It seems absolutely overkill.

The only time I got a personalized plate was when I registered my 612. The clerk at the Registry of Motor Vehicles issued me 1VD457. I said I can't have a plate where the only two letters are VD. She politely told me to take it or leave it. I left it because the next option was 1VD458. :D

Personally would never put my name on my car, or publicly anywhere it’s not necessary. My 2¢.

Each September the Massachusetts Registry has a lottery on available low number license plates. Two years ago I registered my wife and myself in the lottery because one plate number availble was F1. Needless to say neither of us won that plate number. :(

I would never do that just for security reasons.
Putting your last name and the number from your collection (e.g. "Johnstone 7") is just asking for a bad situation.
