After doing some forum searching, I have not found a good thread on aftermarket CarPlay options.

My 2019 Porto (based on VIN) was not wired for CarPlay and cannot get the Ferrari package.

There is a Porto-specific module from a company called Naviks, which advertises plug and play. Does anyone have any experience with this unit or company?

I am after a seamless, OEM-look and don't want any external modules or cutting/wiring to make something work.

    Appreciate any insights.

From what I have seen there are a couple of companies selling CP/AA units which allegedly connect in between the NIT and the rest of the wiring loom without any cutting or soldering etc...plug & play.

It looks to me that they are all very similar & probably come from the same (chinese) factory.

I am looking into getting one myself later this year and then, in due course, hacking/ interupting the loom provided to syphon off the speaker outputs to send to an aftermarket amp so that I don't need to touch the factory wiring to upgrade the standard audio in my car.

The head unit from my 2015 Cali T is having this done as we type. Should be back on the road later this week. News at 11

Since the display and the "computer" are separate, the modules simply plug between the connection of display and control unit.
From the perspective of integration you do get some as the same display is used while audio goes through Bluetooth (which will be annoying with the car deciding what source it wants to play at every startup) but it is a separate system and not a box that enables the native carplay.

So you are saying that music played via CarPlay or other audio goes through BlueTooth and not through the car's audio system?

It goes through Bluetooth back to the factory control unit, so you would hear it from the car speakers.

Thanks. What is your opinion of the solution? Worth the money and trouble?

I have CarPlay in another vehicle and use it sporadically, mainly to listen to and reply to texts, play podcast/books (which I can do through phone as is) and sometimes use the navigation. I will have a SiriusXM subscription in the car and don;t use Spotify or Pandora.

    How is the audio quality?

The solution is ok when it works well, the main annoyance is having to switch back to interact with the additional things that are touch screen only.
However I would note that it can quickly become very annoying when the details don't work right. And with the Ferrari already having its own bugs it will likely have some annoying things you'd have to live with.
Audio quality will be modern Bluetooth which with the Ferrari stereos should not be a problem.
Installed one on a 911 once but would not bother again unless it was a road trip car.

I picked up my 2015 Cali T with the Naviks update to the head unit. I am underwhelmed. We are still trying to get the sound from the map to show up. And trying to get there is a phaff. All things considered, a new Pioneer head unit would have been a better choice for me.

I have a Naviks unit in my daily car (2011 Maserati Quattroporte) and it works great. No cutting/soldering needed, and it looks completely seamless/OEM.

My problem with Navik system is sound quality - There is a drastic signal loss - Its like turning off the "LOUD" button on your stereo. Lack of depth and volume.
